Psalms 94

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 God of vengeance, Yahweh, God of vengeance, shine forth!	1 Dio della vendetta, o Signore, Dio della vendetta, rifulgi!
2 Arise, judge of the world, give back the proud what they deserve!	2 Lèvati quale giudice della terra, infliggi ai superbi il meritato castigo.
3 How long are the wicked, Yahweh, how long are the wicked to triumph?	3 Fino a quando gli empi, o Signore, fino a quando gli empi trionferanno?
4 They bluster and boast, they flaunt themselves, all the evil-doers.	4 Sparlano, dicono insolenze, parlano con arroganza tutti i malfattori.
5 They crush your people, Yahweh, they oppress your heritage,	5 Calpestano il tuo popolo, Signore, la tua eredità opprimono.
6 they murder the widow and the stranger, bring the orphan to a violent death.	6 Uccidono la vedova e il forestiero, mettono a morte gli orfani,
7 They say, 'Yahweh is not looking, the God of Jacob is taking no notice.'	7 e dicono: "Il Signore non vede, non intende il Dio di Giacobbe".
8 Take notice yourselves, you coarsest of people! Fools, when wil you learn some sense?	8 Intendete, o insensati fra il popolo, e voi, stolti, quando diventerete sapienti?
9 Shal he who implanted the ear not hear, he who fashioned the eye not see?	9 Colui che piantò l'orecchio, è possibile che non oda? Oppure colui che plasmò l'occhio, è possibile che non veda?
10 Shal he who instructs nations not punish? Yahweh, the teacher of al people,	10 Colui che ammonisce i popoli non dovrebbe punire? Colui che istruisce l'uomo sarebbe privo di scienza?
11 knows human plans and how insipid they are.	11 Il Signore sa quanto siano vani i pensieri dell'uomo.
12 How blessed are those you instruct, Yahweh, whom you teach by means of your law,	12 Beato l'uomo che tu ammonisci, Signore, e che istruisci nella tua legge!
13 to give them respite in evil times, til a pit is dug for the wicked.	13 Gli darai riposo nei giorni di sventura, quando per l'empio viene scavata la fossa.
14 Yahweh will not abandon his people, he wil not desert his heritage;	14 Poiché il Signore non respinge il suo popolo, non abbandona la sua eredità.
15 for judgement will again become saving justice, and in its wake al upright hearts will fol ow.	15 Poiché al giusto si volgerà il diritto e lo seguiranno tutti i retti di cuore.
16 Who rises up on my side against the wicked? Who stands firm on my side against al evil-doers?	16 Chi poteva insorgere a mia difesa contro degli empi, chi per me poteva erigersi contro dei malfattori?
17 If Yahweh did not come to my help, I should soon find myself dwel ing in the silence.	17 Se non fosse venuto il Signore in mio soccorso, poco sarebbe mancato che l'anima mia scendesse alla dimora del silenzio.
18 I need only say, 'I am slipping,' for your faithful love, Yahweh, to support me;	18 Bastava che dicessi: "Vacilla il mio piede", mi sosteneva, o Signore, la tua grazia.
19 however great the anxiety of my heart, your consolations soothe me.	19 Se preoccupazioni senza numero assediavano il mio cuore, sollevavano il mio animo le tue consolazioni.
20 Are you partner to a destructive court, that gives disorder the status of law?	20 Può dirsi tuo alleato un tribunale iniquo, che commette angherie a dispetto della legge?
21 They make an attack on the life of the upright, and condemn innocent blood.	21 Si avventano contro la vita del giusto e dichiarano colpevole il sangue innocente.
22 No! Yahweh is a stronghold to me, my God is my rock of refuge.	22 Ora il Signore s'è fatto mio riparo, mia roccia di scampo, il mio Dio.
23 He turns back their guilt on themselves, annihilates them for their wickedness, he annihilates them,Yahweh our God.	23 Farà ricadere su di essi la loro malizia; li farà perire per la loro iniquità, li farà perire il Signore, il nostro Dio.
