Psalms 94

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 God of vengeance, Yahweh, God of vengeance, shine forth!	1 Dieu des vengeances, Yahvé, Dieu des vengeances, parais!
2 Arise, judge of the world, give back the proud what they deserve!	2 Lève-toi, juge de la terre, retourne aux orgueilleux leur salaire!
3 How long are the wicked, Yahweh, how long are the wicked to triumph?	3 Jusques à quand les impies, Yahvé, jusques à quand les impies triomphant?
4 They bluster and boast, they flaunt themselves, all the evil-doers.	4 Ils déblatèrent, ils ont le verbe haut, ils se rengorgent, tous les malfaisants.
5 They crush your people, Yahweh, they oppress your heritage,	5 Et ton peuple, Yahvé, qu'ils écrasent, et ton héritage qu'ils oppriment,
6 they murder the widow and the stranger, bring the orphan to a violent death.	6 la veuve et l'étranger, ils les égorgent, et l'orphelin, ils l'assassinent!
7 They say, 'Yahweh is not looking, the God of Jacob is taking no notice.'	7 Et ils disent: "Yahvé ne voit pas, le Dieu de Jacob ne prend pas garde."
8 Take notice yourselves, you coarsest of people! Fools, when wil you learn some sense?	8 Prenez garde, stupides entre tous! insensés, quand aurez-vous l'intelligence?
9 Shal he who implanted the ear not hear, he who fashioned the eye not see?	9 Lui qui planta l'oreille n'entendrait pas? S'il a façonné l'oeil, il ne verrait pas?
10 Shal he who instructs nations not punish? Yahweh, the teacher of al people,	10 Lui qui reprend les peuples ne punirait pas? Lui qui enseigne à l'homme le savoir,
11 knows human plans and how insipid they are.	11 Yahvé sait les pensées de l'homme et qu'elles sont du vent.
12 How blessed are those you instruct, Yahweh, whom you teach by means of your law,	12 Heureux l'homme que tu reprends, Yahvé, et que tu enseignes par ta loi,
13 to give them respite in evil times, til a pit is dug for the wicked.	13 pour lui donner le repos aux mauvais jours, tant que se creuse une fosse pour l'impie.
14 Yahweh will not abandon his people, he wil not desert his heritage;	14 Car Yahvé ne délaisse point son peuple, son héritage, point ne l'abandonne;
15 for judgement will again become saving justice, and in its wake al upright hearts will fol ow.	15 le jugement revient vers la justice, tous les coeurs droits lui font cortège.
16 Who rises up on my side against the wicked? Who stands firm on my side against al evil-doers?	16 Qui se lève pour moi contre les méchants, qui siège pour moi contre les malfaisants?
17 If Yahweh did not come to my help, I should soon find myself dwel ing in the silence.	17 Si Yahvé ne me venait en aide, bientôt mon âme habiterait le silence.
18 I need only say, 'I am slipping,' for your faithful love, Yahweh, to support me;	18 Quand je dis: "Mon pied chancelle", ton amour, Yahvé, me soutient;
19 however great the anxiety of my heart, your consolations soothe me.	19 dans l'excès des soucis qui m'envahissent, tes consolations délectent mon âme.
20 Are you partner to a destructive court, that gives disorder the status of law?	20 Es-tu l'allié d'un tribunal de perdition, érigeant en loi le désordre?
21 They make an attack on the life of the upright, and condemn innocent blood.	21 On s'attaque à la vie du juste, et le sang innocent, on le condamne.
22 No! Yahweh is a stronghold to me, my God is my rock of refuge.	22 Mais Yahvé est pour moi une citadelle, et mon Dieu, le rocher de mon refuge;
23 He turns back their guilt on themselves, annihilates them for their wickedness, he annihilates them,Yahweh our God.	23 il retourne contre eux leur méfait et pour leur malice il les fait taire, il les fait taire, Yahvé notreDieu!
