Psalms 94

NEW JERUSALEM	NOVA VULGATA
1 God of vengeance, Yahweh, God of vengeance, shine forth!	1 Deus ultionum, Domine, Deus ultionum, effulge.
2 Arise, judge of the world, give back the proud what they deserve!	2 Exaltare, qui iudicas terram, redde retributionem superbis.
3 How long are the wicked, Yahweh, how long are the wicked to triumph?	3 Usquequo peccatores, Domine, usquequo peccatores exsultabunt?
4 They bluster and boast, they flaunt themselves, all the evil-doers.	4 Effabuntur et loquentur proterva, gloriabuntur omnes, qui operantur iniquitatem. -
5 They crush your people, Yahweh, they oppress your heritage,	5 Populum tuum, Domine, humiliant et hereditatem tuam vexant.
6 they murder the widow and the stranger, bring the orphan to a violent death.	6 Viduam et advenam interficiunt et pupillos occidunt.
7 They say, 'Yahweh is not looking, the God of Jacob is taking no notice.'	7 Et dixerunt: “ Non videbit Dominus, nec intelleget Deus Iacob ”.
8 Take notice yourselves, you coarsest of people! Fools, when wil you learn some sense?	8 Intellegite, insipientes in populo; et stulti, quando sapietis?
9 Shal he who implanted the ear not hear, he who fashioned the eye not see?	9 Qui plantavit aurem, non audiet, aut qui finxit oculum, non respiciet?
10 Shal he who instructs nations not punish? Yahweh, the teacher of al people,	10 Qui corripit gentes, non arguet, qui docet hominem scientiam?
11 knows human plans and how insipid they are.	11 Dominus scit cogitationes hominum, quoniam vanae sunt.
12 How blessed are those you instruct, Yahweh, whom you teach by means of your law,	12 Beatus homo, quem tu erudieris, Domine, et de lege tua docueris eum,
13 to give them respite in evil times, til a pit is dug for the wicked.	13 ut mitiges ei a diebus malis, donec fodiatur peccatori fovea.
14 Yahweh will not abandon his people, he wil not desert his heritage;	14 Quia non repellet Dominus plebem suam et hereditatem suam non derelinquet.
15 for judgement will again become saving justice, and in its wake al upright hearts will fol ow.	15 Quia ad iustitiam revertetur iudicium, et sequentur illam omnes, qui recto sunt corde.
16 Who rises up on my side against the wicked? Who stands firm on my side against al evil-doers?	16 Quis consurget mihi adversus malignantes, aut quis stabit mecum adversus operantes iniquitatem?
17 If Yahweh did not come to my help, I should soon find myself dwel ing in the silence.	17 Nisi quia Dominus adiuvit me, paulo minus habitasset in loco silentii anima mea.
18 I need only say, 'I am slipping,' for your faithful love, Yahweh, to support me;	18 Si dicebam: “ Motus est pes meus ”, misericordia tua, Domine, sustentabatme.
19 however great the anxiety of my heart, your consolations soothe me.	19 In multitudine sollicitudinum mearum in corde meo, consolationes tuae laetificaverunt animam meam.
20 Are you partner to a destructive court, that gives disorder the status of law?	20 Numquid sociabitur tibi sedes iniquitatis, quae fingit molestiam contra praeceptum?
21 They make an attack on the life of the upright, and condemn innocent blood.	21 Irruunt in animam iusti et sanguinem innocentem condemnant.
22 No! Yahweh is a stronghold to me, my God is my rock of refuge.	22 Et factus est mihi Dominus in praesidium, et Deus meus in rupem refugii mei;
23 He turns back their guilt on themselves, annihilates them for their wickedness, he annihilates them,Yahweh our God.	23 et reddet illis iniquitatem ipsorum et in malitia eorum disperdet eos,
	24 disperdet illos Dominus Deus noster.
