Psalms 9

1 [For the choirmaster On oboe and harp Psalm Of David] I thank you, Yahweh, with my whole heart, Irecount al your wonders,	1 For the leader; according to Muth Labben. A psalm of David.
2 I rejoice and delight in you, I sing to your name, Most High.	2 I will praise you, LORD, with all my heart; I will declare all your wondrous deeds.
3 My enemies are in retreat, they stumble and perish at your presence,	3 I will delight and rejoice in you; I will sing hymns to your name, Most High.
4 for you have given fair judgement in my favour, seated on your throne as upright judge.	4 For my enemies turn back; they stumble and perish before you.
5 You have rebuked the nations, destroyed the wicked, blotted out their name for ever and ever;	5 You upheld my right and my cause, seated on your throne, judging justly.
6 the enemy is wiped out -- mere ruins for ever -- you have annihilated their cities, their memory hasperished. See,	6 You rebuked the nations, you destroyed the wicked; their name you blotted out for all time
7 Yahweh is enthroned for ever, keeping his throne firm for judgement;	7 The enemies have been ruined forever; you destroyed their cities; their memory has perished.
8 he wil himself judge the world in uprightness, wil give a true verdict on the nations.	8 The LORD rules forever, has set up a throne for judgment.
9 May Yahweh be a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble!	9 It is God who governs the world with justice, who judges the peoples with fairness.
10 Those who revere your name can rely on you, you never desert those who seek you, Yahweh.	10 The LORD is a stronghold for the oppressed, stronghold in times of trouble.
11 Sing to Yahweh who dwel s in Zion, tel the nations his mighty deeds,	11 Those who honor your name trust in you; you never forsake those who seek you, LORD.
12 for the avenger of blood does not forget them, he does not ignore the cry of the afflicted.	12 Sing hymns to the LORD enthroned on Zion; proclaim God's deeds among the nations!
13 Have pity on me, Yahweh, see my affliction, pull me back from the gates of death,	13 For the avenger of bloodshed remembers, does not forget the cry of the afflicted.
14 that I may recount al your praises at the gates of the daughter of Zion and rejoice in your salvation.	14 Have mercy on me, LORD; see how my foes afflict me! You alone can raise me from the gates of death.
15 The nations have fal en into the trap they made, their feet caught in the snare they laid.	15 Then I will declare all your praises, sing joyously of your salvation in the gates of daughter Zion.
16 Yahweh has made himself known, given judgement, he has ensnared the wicked in the work of theirown hands.Muted music Pause	16 The nations fall into the pit they dig; in the snare they hide, their own foot is caught.
17 May the wicked turn away to Sheol, al the nations forgetful of God.	17 The LORD is revealed in this divine rule: by the deeds they do the wicked are trapped. Higgaion. Selah
18 For the needy is not forgotten for ever, not for ever does the hope of the poor come to nothing.	18 To Sheol the wicked will depart, all the nations that forget God.
19 Arise, Yahweh; human strength shal not prevail. The nations shal stand trial before you.	19 The needy will never be forgotten, nor will the hope of the afflicted ever fade.
20 Strike them with terror, Yahweh; the nations shall know that they are no more than human!Pause	20 Arise, LORD, let no mortal prevail; let the nations be judged in your presence.
	21 Strike them with terror, LORD; show the nations they are mere mortals. Selah
