Psalms 85

NEW JERUSALEM	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 [For the choirmaster Of the sons of Korah Psalm] Yahweh, you are gracious to your land, you bringback the captives of Jacob,	1 For the leader. A psalm of the Korahites.
2 you take away the guilt of your people, you blot out al their sin.Pause	2 You once favored, LORD, your land, restored the good fortune of Jacob.
3 You retract al your anger, you renounce the heat of your fury.	3 You forgave the guilt of your people, pardoned all their sins. Selah
4 Bring us back, God our Saviour, appease your indignation against us!	4 You withdrew all your wrath, turned back your burning anger.
5 Wil you be angry with us for ever? Wil you prolong your wrath age after age?	5 Restore us once more, God our savior; abandon your wrath against us.
6 Wil you not give us life again, for your people to rejoice in you?	6 Will you be angry with us forever, drag out your anger for all generations?
7 Show us, Lord, your faithful love, grant us your saving help.	7 Please give us life again, that your people may rejoice in you.
8 I am listening. What is God's message? Yahweh's message is peace for his people, for his faithful, ifonly they renounce their folly.	8 Show us, LORD, your love; grant us your salvation.
9 His saving help is near for those who fear him, his glory wil dwel in our land.	9 I will listen for the word of God; surely the LORD will proclaim peace To his people, to the faithful, to those who trust in him.
10 Faithful Love and Loyalty join together, Saving Justice and Peace embrace.	10 Near indeed is salvation for the loyal; prosperity will fill our land.
11 Loyalty wil spring up from the earth, and Justice wil lean down from heaven.	11 Love and truth will meet; justice and peace will kiss.
12 Yahweh will himself give prosperity, and our soil wil yield its harvest.	12 Truth will spring from the earth; justice will look down from heaven.
13 Justice will walk before him, treading out a path.	13 The LORD will surely grant abundance; our land will yield its increase.
	14 Prosperity will march before the Lord, and good fortune will follow behind.
