Psalms 85

NEW JERUSALEM	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 [For the choirmaster Of the sons of Korah Psalm] Yahweh, you are gracious to your land, you bringback the captives of Jacob,	1 Unto the end, for the sons of Core, a psalm.
2 you take away the guilt of your people, you blot out al their sin.Pause	2 Lord, thou hast blessed thy land: thou hast turned away the captivity of Jacob.
3 You retract al your anger, you renounce the heat of your fury.	3 Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people: thou hast covered all their sins.
4 Bring us back, God our Saviour, appease your indignation against us!	4 Thou hast mitigated all thy anger: thou best turned away from the wrath of thy indignation.
5 Wil you be angry with us for ever? Wil you prolong your wrath age after age?	5 Convert us, O God our saviour: and turn off thy anger from us.
6 Wil you not give us life again, for your people to rejoice in you?	6 Wilt thou be angry with us for ever: or wilt thou extend thy wrath from generation to generation?
7 Show us, Lord, your faithful love, grant us your saving help.	7 Thou wilt turn, O God, and bring us to life: and thy people shall rejoice in thee.
8 I am listening. What is God's message? Yahweh's message is peace for his people, for his faithful, ifonly they renounce their folly.	8 Shew us, O Lord, thy mercy; and grant us thy salvation.
9 His saving help is near for those who fear him, his glory wil dwel in our land.	9 I will hear what the Lord God will speak in me: for he will speak peace unto his people: And unto his saints: and unto them that are converted to the heart.
10 Faithful Love and Loyalty join together, Saving Justice and Peace embrace.	10 Surely his salvation is near to them that fear him: that glory may dwell in our land.
11 Loyalty wil spring up from the earth, and Justice wil lean down from heaven.	11 Mercy and truth have met each other: justice and peace have kissed.
12 Yahweh will himself give prosperity, and our soil wil yield its harvest.	12 Truth is sprung out of the earth: and justice hath looked down from heaven.
13 Justice will walk before him, treading out a path.	13 For the Lord will give goodness: and our earth shall yield her fruit.
	14 Justice shall walk before him: and shall set his steps in the way.
