1 [Lament Of David Which he sang to Yahweh about Cush the Benjaminite] Yahweh my God, I takerefuge in you, save me from al my pursuers and rescue me,	1 Lamento di Davide che egli cantò al Signore a causa del beniaminita Cus.
2 or he wil savage me like a lion, carry me off with no one to rescue me.	2 Signore mio Dio, in te mi rifugio; salvami da quanti m'inseguono e liberami,
3 Yahweh my God, if I have done this: if injustice has stained my hands,	3 perché non sbrani qual leone l'anima mia, la strappi via e non c'è chi soccorra.
4 if I have repaid my al y with treachery or spared one who attacked me unprovoked,	4 Signore mio Dio, se un'indegnità io avessi commesso, se vi fosse ingiustizia nelle mie mani,
5 may an enemy hunt me down and catch me, may he trample my life into the ground and crush my vitalparts into the dust.Pause	5 se avessi ripagato con il male il mio alleato e risparmiato senza ragione il mio nemico,
6 Arise, Yahweh, in your anger, rise up against the arrogance of my foes. Awake, my God, you demandjudgement.	6 m'insegua allora il mio nemico e mi raggiunga e getti nella polvere il mio onore.
7 Let the assembly of nations gather round you; return above it on high!	7 Sorgi, Signore, nella tua ira; lèvati contro l'arroganza dei miei avversari; déstati, o mio Dio: disponi il giudizio;
8 (Yahweh judges the nations.) Judge me, Yahweh, as my uprightness and my integrity deserve.	8 circondato dall'assemblea dei popoli, su di essa con maestà presiedi. Il Signore giudica i popoli.
9 Put an end to the malice of the wicked, make the upright stand firm, you who discern hearts and minds,God the upright.	9 Giudicami, o Signore, secondo la tua giustizia e secondo la mia innocenza, o Eccelso...
10 God is a shield that protects me, saving the honest of heart.	10 Giunga a termine la malizia degli empi; ma tu rendi stabile il giusto, poiché scrutatore dei reni e dei cuori è il giusto Dio.
11 God is an upright judge, slow to anger, but a God at al times threatening	11 Il mio scudo è il Dio eccelso, colui che salva i retti di cuore;
12 for those who wil not repent. Let the enemy whet his sword, draw his bow and make ready;	12 Dio è un giudice giusto, è un Dio che si adira ogni giorno.
13 but he is making ready instruments of death for himself and tipping his arrows with fire;	13 Non torna egli forse ad affilarsi la spada? Ha teso e puntato il suo arco.
14 look at him: pregnant with malice, conceiving spite, he gives birth to treachery.	14 Per sé ha preparato strumenti di morte, facendo roventi i suoi dardi.
15 He digs a trap, scoops it out, but he fal s into the snare he made himself.	15 Ecco, l'empio concepisce iniquità, porta in seno nequizia e genera inganno.
16 His spite recoils on his own head, his brutality falls back on his own skul .	16 Un pozzo ha intagliato e ha scavato ed è caduto nella fossa che faceva.
17 I thank Yahweh for his saving justice. I sing to the name of the Most High.	17 Ricade la sua nequizia sulla sua testa e sul suo capo la sua violenza discende.
