[Lament Of David Which he sang to Yahweh about Cush the Benjaminite] Yahweh my God, I takerefuge in you, save me from al my pursuers and rescue me,1 A Psalm of David, which he sang to the Lord because of the words of Cush, the son of Jemini.
or he wil savage me like a lion, carry me off with no one to rescue me.2 O Lord, my God, in you I have hoped. Save me from all those who persecute me, and free me:
Yahweh my God, if I have done this: if injustice has stained my hands,3 lest at any time, like a lion, he might seize my soul, while there is no one to redeem me, nor any who can save.
if I have repaid my al y with treachery or spared one who attacked me unprovoked,4 O Lord, my God, if there is iniquity in my hands, if I have done this:
may an enemy hunt me down and catch me, may he trample my life into the ground and crush my vitalparts into the dust.Pause5 if I have repaid those who rendered evils to me, may I deservedly fall away empty before my enemies:
Arise, Yahweh, in your anger, rise up against the arrogance of my foes. Awake, my God, you demandjudgement.6 let the enemy pursue my soul, and take hold of it, and trample my life into the earth, and drag down my glory into the dust.
Let the assembly of nations gather round you; return above it on high!7 Rise up, Lord, in your anger. And be exalted to the borders of my enemies. And rise up, O Lord my God, according to the precept that you commanded,
(Yahweh judges the nations.) Judge me, Yahweh, as my uprightness and my integrity deserve.8 and a congregation of people will surround you. And, because of this, return on high.
Put an end to the malice of the wicked, make the upright stand firm, you who discern hearts and minds,God the upright.9 The Lord judges the people. Judge me, O Lord, according to my justice and according to my innocence within me.
God is a shield that protects me, saving the honest of heart.10 The wickedness of sinners will be consumed, and you will direct the just: the examiner of hearts and temperaments is God.
God is an upright judge, slow to anger, but a God at al times threatening11 Just is my help from the Lord, who saves the upright of heart.
for those who wil not repent. Let the enemy whet his sword, draw his bow and make ready;12 God is a just judge, strong and patient. How could he be angry throughout every day?
but he is making ready instruments of death for himself and tipping his arrows with fire;13 Unless you will be converted, he will brandish his sword. He has extended his bow and made it ready.
look at him: pregnant with malice, conceiving spite, he gives birth to treachery.14 And with it, he has prepared instruments of death. He has produced his arrows for those on fire.
He digs a trap, scoops it out, but he fal s into the snare he made himself.15 Behold him who has given birth to injustice: he has conceived sorrow and has begotten iniquity.
His spite recoils on his own head, his brutality falls back on his own skul .16 He has opened a pit and enlarged it. And he has fallen into the hole that he made.
I thank Yahweh for his saving justice. I sing to the name of the Most High.17 His sorrow will be turned upon his own head, and his iniquity will descend upon his highest point.
I will confess to the Lord according to his justice, and I will sing a psalm to the name of the Lord Most High.
