1 [For the choirmaster Poem Of David When Doeg the Edomite went and warned Saul, 'David has goneto Abimelech's house'] Why take pride in being wicked, you champion in vil ainy, al day long	1 In finem, pro Maëleth intelligentiæ David. Dixit insipiens in corde suo : Non est Deus.
2 plotting crime? Your tongue is razor-sharp, you artist in perfidy.	2 Corrupti sunt, et abominabiles facti sunt in iniquitatibus ; non est qui faciat bonum.
3 You prefer evil to good, lying to uprightness. Pause	3 Deus de cælo prospexit super filios hominum, ut videat si est intelligens, aut requirens Deum.
4 You revel in destructive talk, treacherous tongue!	4 Omnes declinaverunt ; simul inutiles facti sunt : non est qui faciat bonum, non est usque ad unum.
5 That is why God wil crush you, destroy you once and for all, snatch you from your tent, uproot youfrom the land of the living.Pause	5 Nonne scient omnes qui operantur iniquitatem, qui devorant plebem meam ut cibum panis ?
6 The upright wil be awestruck as they see it, they wil mock him,	6 Deum non invocaverunt ; illic trepidaverunt timore, ubi non erat timor. Quoniam Deus dissipavit ossa eorum qui hominibus placent : confusi sunt, quoniam Deus sprevit eos.
7 'So much for someone who would not place his reliance in God, but relied on his own great wealth,and made himself strong by crime.'	7 Quis dabit ex Sion salutare Israël ? cum converterit Deus captivitatem plebis suæ, exsultabit Jacob, et lætabitur Israël.
8 But I, like a flourishing olive tree in the house of God, put my trust in God's faithful love, for ever andever.
9 I shal praise you for ever for what you have done, and shal trust in your name, so ful of goodness, inthe presence of your faithful.
