NEW JERUSALEM | VULGATA |
---|---|
Why this uproar among the nations, this impotent muttering of the peoples? | 1 Quare fremuerunt gentes, et populi meditati sunt inania ? |
Kings of the earth take up position, princes plot together against Yahweh and his anointed, | 2 Astiterunt reges terræ, et principes convenerunt in unum adversus Dominum, et adversus christum ejus. |
'Now let us break their fetters! Now let us throw off their bonds!' | 3 Dirumpamus vincula eorum, et projiciamus a nobis jugum ipsorum. |
He who is enthroned in the heavens laughs, Yahweh makes a mockery of them, | 4 Qui habitat in cælis irridebit eos, et Dominus subsannabit eos. |
then in his anger rebukes them, in his rage he strikes them with terror. | 5 Tunc loquetur ad eos in ira sua, et in furore suo conturbabit eos. |
'I myself have anointed my king on Zion my holy mountain.' | 6 Ego autem constitutus sum rex ab eo super Sion, montem sanctum ejus, prædicans præceptum ejus. |
I wil proclaim the decree of Yahweh: He said to me, 'You are my son, today have I fathered you. | 7 Dominus dixit ad me : Filius meus es tu ; ego hodie genui te. |
Ask of me, and I shal give you the nations as your birthright, the whole wide world as your possession. | 8 Postula a me, et dabo tibi gentes hæreditatem tuam, et possessionem tuam terminos terræ. |
With an iron sceptre you wil break them, shatter them like so many pots.' | 9 Reges eos in virga ferrea, et tamquam vas figuli confringes eos. |
So now, you kings, come to your senses, you earthly rulers, learn your lesson! | 10 Et nunc, reges, intelligite ; erudimini, qui judicatis terram. |
In fear be submissive to Yahweh; | 11 Servite Domino in timore, et exsultate ei cum tremore. |
with trembling kiss his feet, lest he be angry and your way come to nothing, for his fury flares up in amoment. How blessed are al who take refuge in him! | 12 Apprehendite disciplinam, nequando irascatur Dominus, et pereatis de via justa. |
Cum exarserit in brevi ira ejus, beati omnes qui confidunt in eo. |
