Psalms 2

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 Why this uproar among the nations, this impotent muttering of the peoples?	1 Por que tumultuam as nações? Por que tramam os povos vãs conspirações?
2 Kings of the earth take up position, princes plot together against Yahweh and his anointed,	2 Erguem-se, juntos, os reis da terra, e os príncipes se unem para conspirar contra o Senhor e contra seu Cristo.
3 'Now let us break their fetters! Now let us throw off their bonds!'	3 Quebremos seu jugo, disseram eles, e sacudamos para longe de nós as suas cadeias!
4 He who is enthroned in the heavens laughs, Yahweh makes a mockery of them,	4 Aquele, porém, que mora nos céus, se ri, o Senhor os reduz ao ridículo.
5 then in his anger rebukes them, in his rage he strikes them with terror.	5 Dirigindo-se a eles em cólera, ele os aterra com o seu furor:
6 'I myself have anointed my king on Zion my holy mountain.'	6 Sou eu, diz, quem me sagrei um rei em Sião, minha montanha santa.
7 I wil proclaim the decree of Yahweh: He said to me, 'You are my son, today have I fathered you.	7 Vou publicar o decreto do Senhor. Disse-me o Senhor: Tu és meu filho, eu hoje te gerei.
8 Ask of me, and I shal give you the nations as your birthright, the whole wide world as your possession.	8 Pede-me; dar-te-ei por herança todas as nações; tu possuirás os confins do mundo.
9 With an iron sceptre you wil break them, shatter them like so many pots.'	9 Tu as governarás com cetro de ferro, tu as pulverizarás como um vaso de argila.
10 So now, you kings, come to your senses, you earthly rulers, learn your lesson!	10 Agora, ó reis, compreendei isto; instruí-vos, ó juízes da terra.
11 In fear be submissive to Yahweh;	11 Servi ao Senhor com respeito e exultai em sua presença;
12 with trembling kiss his feet, lest he be angry and your way come to nothing, for his fury flares up in amoment. How blessed are al who take refuge in him!	12 prestai-lhe homenagem com tremor, para que não se irrite e não pereçais quando, em breve, se acender sua cólera. Felizes, entretanto, todos os que nele confiam.
