¹ By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept at the memory of Zion.	¹ Dello stesso Davidde. Darò lode a te con tutto il cuor mio, o Signore: perché hai ascoltate le voci della mia bocca.
² On the poplars there we had hung up our harps.	² Al cospetto degli Angeli canterai inni a te: adorerò nel tuo tempio santo, e darò lode al tuo nome,
³ For there our gaolers had asked us to sing them a song, our captors to make merry, 'Sing us one ofthe songs of Zion.'	³ A motivo della tua misericordia, e della tua verità, perché sopra qualunque cosa hai esaltato il tuo santo nome.
⁴ How could we sing a song of Yahweh on alien soil?	⁴ In qualunque giorno io ti invochi, esaudiscimi: moltiplicherai nell'anima mia la fortezza.
⁵ If I forget you, Jerusalem, may my right hand wither!	⁵ A te dian lode, o Signore, tutti i re della terra, perché hanno udite tutte le parole della tua bocca:
⁶ May my tongue remain stuck to my palate if I do not keep you in mind, if I do not count Jerusalem thegreatest of my joys.	⁶ E cantino le vie del Signore, perché grande è la gloria del Signore.
⁷ Remember, Yahweh, to the Edomites' cost, the day of Jerusalem, how they said, 'Down with it! Raseit to the ground!'	⁷ Perché il Signore o eccelso, e sopra le cose basse getta i suoi sguardi, e le alte mira da lungi.
⁸ Daughter of Babel, doomed to destruction, a blessing on anyone who treats you as you treated us,	⁸ Se io camminerò nel mezzo della tribolazione tu mi darai vita; e contro l'ira de' miei nemici stendesti la mano tua, e la tua destra mi salvò.
⁹ a blessing on anyone who seizes your babies and shatters them against a rock!	⁹ Il Signore farà mie vendette; Signore, la misericordia tua è per sempre: non disprezzare le opere della tua mano.
