[Song of Ascents] Often as men have attacked me since I was young -- let Israel repeat it-1 A Canticle in steps. From the depths, I have cried out to you, O Lord.
often as men have attacked me since I was young, they have never overcome me.2 O Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication.
On my back ploughmen have set to work, making long furrows,3 If you, O Lord, were to heed iniquities, who, O Lord, could persevere?
but Yahweh the upright has shattered the yoke of the wicked.4 For with you, there is forgiveness, and because of your law, I persevered with you, Lord. My soul has persevered in his word.
Let al who hate Zion be thrown back in confusion,5 My soul has hoped in the Lord.
let them be like grass on a roof, dried up before it is cut,6 From the morning watch, even until night, let Israel hope in the Lord.
never to fil the reaper's arm nor the binder's lap.7 For with the Lord there is mercy, and with him there is bountiful redemption.
And no passer-by wil say, 'The blessing of Yahweh be on you! 'We bless you in the name ofYahweh.'8 And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
