NEW JERUSALEM | DOUAI-RHEIMS |
---|---|
[Song of Ascents] Often as men have attacked me since I was young -- let Israel repeat it- | 1 Blessed are all they that fear the Lord: that walk in his ways. |
often as men have attacked me since I was young, they have never overcome me. | 2 For thou shalt eat the labours of thy hands: blessed art thou, and it shall be well with thee. |
On my back ploughmen have set to work, making long furrows, | 3 Thy wife as a fruitful vine, on the sides of thy house. |
but Yahweh the upright has shattered the yoke of the wicked. | 4 Behold, thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the Lord. |
Let al who hate Zion be thrown back in confusion, | 5 May the Lord bless thee out of Sion: and mayest thou see the good things of Jerusalem all the days of thy life. |
let them be like grass on a roof, dried up before it is cut, | 6 And mayest thou see thy children's children, peace upon Israel. |
never to fil the reaper's arm nor the binder's lap. | |
And no passer-by wil say, 'The blessing of Yahweh be on you! 'We bless you in the name ofYahweh.' |
