Psalms 129

NEW JERUSALEM	Miqra 'al pi ha-Mesorah
1 [Song of Ascents] Often as men have attacked me since I was young -- let Israel repeat it-	1 שִׁיר הַֽמַּעֲלוֹתרַבַּת צְרָרוּנִי מִנְּעוּרַייֹאמַר־נָא יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
2 often as men have attacked me since I was young, they have never overcome me.	2 רַבַּת צְרָרוּנִי מִנְּעוּרָיגַּם לֹא־יָכְלוּ לִֽי׃
3 On my back ploughmen have set to work, making long furrows,	3 עַל־גַּבִּי חָרְשׁוּ חֹרְשִׁיםהֶאֱרִיכוּ למענותם לְמַעֲנִיתָֽם׃
4 but Yahweh the upright has shattered the yoke of the wicked.	4 יְהֹוָה צַדִּיקקִצֵּץ עֲבוֹת רְשָׁעִֽים׃
5 Let al who hate Zion be thrown back in confusion,	5 יֵבֹשׁוּ וְיִסֹּגוּ אָחוֹרכֹּל שֹׂנְאֵי צִיּֽוֹן׃
6 let them be like grass on a roof, dried up before it is cut,	6 יִהְיוּ כַּחֲצִיר גַּגּוֹתשֶׁקַּדְמַת שָׁלַף יָבֵֽשׁ׃
7 never to fil the reaper's arm nor the binder's lap.	7 שֶׁלֹּא מִלֵּא כַפּוֹ קוֹצֵרוְחִצְנוֹ מְעַמֵּֽר׃
8 And no passer-by wil say, 'The blessing of Yahweh be on you! 'We bless you in the name ofYahweh.'	8 וְלֹא אָמְרוּ ׀ הָעֹבְרִיםבִּרְכַּֽת־יְהֹוָה אֲלֵיכֶםבֵּרַכְנוּ אֶתְכֶם בְּשֵׁם יְהֹוָֽה׃
