Psalms 127

1 [Song of Ascents Of Solomon] If Yahweh does not build a house in vain do its builders toil. If Yahwehdoes not guard a city in vain does its guard keep watch.	1 A Song of Ascents. Of Solomon. Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.
2 In vain you get up earlier, and put off going to bed, sweating to make a living, since it is he whoprovides for his beloved as they sleep.	2 It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep.
3 Sons are a birthright from Yahweh, children are a reward from him.	3 Lo, sons are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward.
4 Like arrows in a warrior's hand are the sons you father when young.	4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the sons of one's youth.
5 How blessed is the man who has fil ed his quiver with them; in dispute with his enemies at the citygate he wil not be worsted.	5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.
