Psalms 107

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 Al eluia! Give thanks to Yahweh for he is good, his faithful love lasts for ever.	1 Aleluia. Louvai o Senhor, porque ele é bom. Porque eterna é a sua misericórdia.
2 So let them say whom Yahweh redeemed, whom he redeemed from the power of their enemies,	2 Assim o dizem aqueles que o Senhor resgatou, aqueles que ele livrou das mãos do opressor,
3 bringing them back from foreign lands, from east and west, north and south.	3 assim como os que congregou de todos os países, do oriente e do ocidente, do norte e do sul.
4 They were wandering in the desert, in the wastelands, could find no way to an inhabited city;	4 Erravam na solidão do deserto, sem encontrar caminho de cidade habitável.
5 they were hungry and thirsty, their life was ebbing away.	5 Consumidos de fome e de sede, sentiam desfalecer-lhes a vida.
6 They cried out to Yahweh in their distress, he rescued them from their plight,	6 Em sua angústia clamaram então para o Senhor, ele os livrou de suas tribulações
7 he set them on the road, straight to an inhabited city.	7 e os conduziu pelo bom caminho, para chegarem a uma cidade habitável.
8 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	8 Agradeçam ao Senhor por sua bondade, e por suas grandes obras em favor dos homens,
9 He has fed the hungry to their hearts' content, filled the starving with good things.	9 porque dessedentou a garganta sequiosa, e cumulou de bens a que tinha fome.
10 Sojourners in gloom and shadow dark as death, fettered in misery and chains,	10 Outros estavam nas trevas e na sombra da morte, prisioneiros na miséria e em ferros,
11 for defying the orders of Yahweh, for scorning the plan of the Most High-	11 por se haverem revoltado contra as ordens de Deus e terem desprezado os desígnios do Altíssimo.
12 he subdued their spirit by hard labour; if they fel there was no one to help.	12 Pelo sofrimento lhes humilhara o coração, sucumbiam sem que ninguém os socorresse.
13 They cried out to Yahweh in their distress, he rescued them from their plight,	13 Em sua angústia clamaram então para o Senhor, e ele os livrou de suas tribulações.
14 he brought them out from gloom and shadow dark as death, and shattered their chains.	14 Tirou-os das trevas e da sombra da morte, quebrou-lhes os grilhões.
15 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	15 Agradeçam ao Senhor por sua bondade, e por suas grandes obras em favor dos homens.
16 He broke open gates of bronze and smashed iron bars.	16 Ele arrombou as portas de bronze, e despedaçou os ferrolhos de ferro.
17 Fools for their rebellious ways, wretched because of their sins,	17 Outros, enfermos por causa de seu mau proceder, eram feridos por causa de seus pecados.
18 finding all food repugnant, brought close to the gates of death-	18 Todo alimento lhes causava náuseas, chegaram às portas da morte.
19 they cried out to Yahweh in their distress; he rescued them from their plight,	19 Em sua angústia clamaram então para o Senhor; ele os livrou de suas tribulações.
20 he sent out his word and cured them, and rescued their life from the abyss.	20 Enviou a sua palavra para os curar, para os arrancar da morte.
21 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	21 Agradeçam ao Senhor por sua bondade, e por suas grandes obras em favor dos homens.
22 Let them offer thanksgiving sacrifices, and recount with shouts of joy what he has done!	22 Ofereçam sacrifícios de ação de graças, e proclamem alegremente as suas obras.
23 Voyagers on the sea in ships, plying their trade on the great ocean,	23 Os que se fizeram ao mar, para trafegar nas muitas águas,
24 have seen the works of Yahweh, his wonders in the deep.	24 foram testemunhas das obras do Senhor e de suas maravilhas no alto-mar.
25 By his word he raised a storm-wind, lashing up towering waves.	25 Sua palavra levantou tremendo vento, que impeliu para o alto as suas ondas.
26 Up to the sky then down to the depths! Their stomachs were turned to water;	26 Subiam até os céus, desciam aos abismos, suas almas definhavam em angústias.
27 they staggered and reeled like drunkards, and al their skill went under.	27 Titubeavam e cambaleavam como ébrios, e toda a sua perícia se esvaiu.
28 They cried out to Yahweh in their distress, he rescued them from their plight,	28 Em sua agonia clamaram então ao Senhor, e ele os livrou da tribulação.
29 he reduced the storm to a calm, and al the waters subsided,	29 Transformou a procela em leve brisa, e as ondas do mar silenciaram.
30 and he brought them, overjoyed at the stillness, to the port where they were bound.	30 E se alegraram porque elas amainaram, e os conduziu ao desejado porto.
31 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	31 Agradeçam eles ao Senhor por sua bondade, e por suas grandes obras em favor dos homens.
32 Let them extol him in the assembly of the people, and praise him in the council of elders.	32 Celebrem-no na assembléia do povo, e o louvem no conselho dos anciãos.
33 He has turned rivers into desert, bubbling springs into arid ground,	33 Transformou rios em deserto, e fontes de água em terra árida.
34 fertile country into salt-flats, because the people living there were evil.	34 Converteu o solo fértil em salinas, por causa da malícia de seus habitantes.
35 But he has turned desert into stretches of water, arid ground into bubbling springs,	35 Mudou o deserto em lençol de água, e a terra árida em abundantes fontes.
36 and has given the hungry a home, where they have built themselves a city.	36 Aí fez habitar os esfaimados, que fundaram uma cidade para morar.
37 There they sow fields and plant vines, and reap a harvest of their produce.	37 E semearam os campos e plantaram vinhas, colhendo deles abundantes frutos.
38 He blesses them and their numbers increase, he keeps their cattle at full strength.	38 E os abençoou: eles se multiplicaram grandemente, e lhes concedeu rebanhos numerosos.
39 Their numbers had fal en, they had grown weak, under pressure of disaster and hardship;	39 Depois seu número se reduziu e caíram na miséria, sob a opressão, a desgraça e o sofrimento.
40 he covered princes in contempt, left them to wander in trackless wastes.	40 Mas aquele que lança seu desprezo sobre os grandes, e os faz errar por ínvios desertos,
41 But the needy he raises from their misery, makes their families as numerous as sheep.	41 {Deus,} soergueu o pobre da miséria, multiplicando famílias como rebanhos.
42 At the sight the honest rejoice, and the wicked have nothing to say.	42 À vista disso os justos se alegram, e toda a maldade deve fechar a boca.
43 Who is wise? Such a one should take this to heart, and come to understand Yahweh's faithful love.	43 Quem é sábio para julgar estas coisas e compreender as misericórdias do Senhor?
