Psalms 107

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 Al eluia! Give thanks to Yahweh for he is good, his faithful love lasts for ever.	1 CELEBRATE il Signore; perciocchè egli è buono. Perciocchè la sua benignità dura in eterno.
2 So let them say whom Yahweh redeemed, whom he redeemed from the power of their enemies,	2 Così dicano quelli che sono stati riscattati dal Signore, I quali egli ha riscossi di distretta.
3 bringing them back from foreign lands, from east and west, north and south.	3 E li ha raccolti da’ diversi paesi, Dal Levante e dal Ponente; dal Settentrione e dal mare.
4 They were wandering in the desert, in the wastelands, could find no way to an inhabited city;	4 Essi andavano errando per deserti, per cammini di solitudine; Non trovavano città abitata.
5 they were hungry and thirsty, their life was ebbing away.	5 Erano affamati ed assetati; L’anima loro spasimava in loro.
6 They cried out to Yahweh in their distress, he rescued them from their plight,	6 Ma, avendo gridato al Signore, mentre erano in distretta, Egli li ha tratti fuor delle loro angosce;
7 he set them on the road, straight to an inhabited city.	7 E li ha condotti per diritto cammino, Per andare in città abitata.
8 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	8 Celebrino adunque appo il Signore la sua benignità, E le sue maraviglie appo i figliuoli degli uomini.
9 He has fed the hungry to their hearts' content, filled the starving with good things.	9 Perciocchè egli ha saziata l’anima assetata, Ed ha empiuta di beni l’anima affamata
10 Sojourners in gloom and shadow dark as death, fettered in misery and chains,	10 Così dicano quelli che dimoravano in tenebre ed in ombra di morte, Prigioni, ritenuti in afflizione, e ne’ ferri.
11 for defying the orders of Yahweh, for scorning the plan of the Most High-	11 Perciocchè erano stati ribelli alle parole del Signore, Ed avevano sprezzato il consiglio dell’Altissimo;
12 he subdued their spirit by hard labour; if they fel there was no one to help.	12 Onde egli aveva abbattuto il cuor loro con affanni, Ed erano caduti; e non vi era alcuno che li soccorresse.
13 They cried out to Yahweh in their distress, he rescued them from their plight,	13 Ma, avendo gridato al Signore, mentre erano in distretta, Egli li ha salvati dalle loro angosce;
14 he brought them out from gloom and shadow dark as death, and shattered their chains.	14 E li ha tratti fuor delle tenebre, e dell’ombra della morte; Ed ha rotti i lor legami.
15 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	15 Celebrino adunque appo il Signore la sua benignità, E le sue maraviglie appo i figliuoli degli uomini.
16 He broke open gates of bronze and smashed iron bars.	16 Perciocchè egli ha rotte le porte di rame, Ed ha spezzate le sbarre di ferro
17 Fools for their rebellious ways, wretched because of their sins,	17 Così dicano gli stolti, ch’erano afflitti per li lor misfatti, Ne’ quali camminavano, e per le loro iniquità.
18 finding all food repugnant, brought close to the gates of death-	18 La cui anima abbominava ogni cibo; Ed erano giunti fino alle porte della morte.
19 they cried out to Yahweh in their distress; he rescued them from their plight,	19 Ma, avendo gridato al Signore, mentre erano in distretta, Egli li ha salvati dalle loro angosce.
20 he sent out his word and cured them, and rescued their life from the abyss.	20 Egli ha mandata la sua parola, e li ha sanati, E liberati dalle lor malattie mortali.
21 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	21 Celebrino adunque appo il Signore la sua benignità, E le sue maraviglie appo i figliuoli degli uomini.
22 Let them offer thanksgiving sacrifices, and recount with shouts of joy what he has done!	22 E sacrifichino sacrificii di lode, E raccontino le sue opere con giubilo
23 Voyagers on the sea in ships, plying their trade on the great ocean,	23 Così dicano quelli che scendono nel mare sopra navi, Che fanno traffico su per le grandi acque.
24 have seen the works of Yahweh, his wonders in the deep.	24 Essi veggono le opere del Signore, E le sue maraviglie nel profondo mare.
25 By his word he raised a storm-wind, lashing up towering waves.	25 Perciocchè, alla sua parola, egli fa levare il vento di tempesta, Il quale alza le onde di esso.
26 Up to the sky then down to the depths! Their stomachs were turned to water;	26 Salgono al cielo, poi scendono agli abissi; L’anima loro si strugge di male.
27 they staggered and reeled like drunkards, and al their skill went under.	27 Saltano, e traballano come un ebbro; E perdono tutto il lor senno.
28 They cried out to Yahweh in their distress, he rescued them from their plight,	28 Ma, gridando al Signore, mentre sono in distretta, Egli li trae fuor delle loro angosce.
29 he reduced the storm to a calm, and al the waters subsided,	29 Egli acqueta la tempesta, E le onde loro si fermano.
30 and he brought them, overjoyed at the stillness, to the port where they were bound.	30 Ed essi si rallegrano che sono acquetate; Ed egli li conduce al porto da loro desiderato.
31 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	31 Celebrino adunque appo il Signore la sua benignità, E le sue maraviglie appo i figliuoli degli uomini.
32 Let them extol him in the assembly of the people, and praise him in the council of elders.	32 Ed esaltinlo nella raunanza del popolo, E laudinlo nel concistoro degli anziani
33 He has turned rivers into desert, bubbling springs into arid ground,	33 Egli riduce i fiumi in deserto, E le vene delle acque in luoghi aridi;
34 fertile country into salt-flats, because the people living there were evil.	34 La terra fertile in salsuggine, Per la malvagità de’ suoi abitanti.
35 But he has turned desert into stretches of water, arid ground into bubbling springs,	35 Egli riduce i deserti in guazzi d’acque. E la terra arida in vene d’acque;
36 and has given the hungry a home, where they have built themselves a city.	36 E fa quivi abitar gli affamati, I quali vi fondano città da abitare.
37 There they sow fields and plant vines, and reap a harvest of their produce.	37 E seminano campi, e piantano vigne, Che producono rendita di frutto.
38 He blesses them and their numbers increase, he keeps their cattle at full strength.	38 Ed egli li benedice, e moltiplicano grandemente; Ed egli non iscema i lor bestiami.
39 Their numbers had fal en, they had grown weak, under pressure of disaster and hardship;	39 Poi vengono al meno, e sono abbassati Per distretta, per avversità, e per affanni.
40 he covered princes in contempt, left them to wander in trackless wastes.	40 Egli spande lo sprezzo sopra i nobili, E li fa andare errando per luoghi deserti, ove non vi è via alcuna.
41 But the needy he raises from their misery, makes their families as numerous as sheep.	41 E innalza il bisognoso dalla miseria, E fa che le famiglie moltiplicano a guisa di gregge.
42 At the sight the honest rejoice, and the wicked have nothing to say.	42 Gli uomini diritti, veggendo queste cose, si rallegrano; Ma ogni iniquità si tura la bocca.
43 Who is wise? Such a one should take this to heart, and come to understand Yahweh's faithful love.	43 Chi è savio? osservi queste cose, E consideri le benignità del Signore
