Psalms 107

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Al eluia! Give thanks to Yahweh for he is good, his faithful love lasts for ever.	1 ¡Den gracias al Señor, porque es bueno, porque es eterno su amor!
2 So let them say whom Yahweh redeemed, whom he redeemed from the power of their enemies,	2 Que lo digan los redimidos por el Señor, los que él rescató del poder del enemigo
3 bringing them back from foreign lands, from east and west, north and south.	3 y congregó de todas las regiones: del norte y del sur, del oriente y el occidente;
4 They were wandering in the desert, in the wastelands, could find no way to an inhabited city;	4 los que iban errantes por el desierto solitario, sin hallar el camino hacia un lugar habitable.
5 they were hungry and thirsty, their life was ebbing away.	5 Estaban hambrientos, tenían sed y ya les faltaba el aliento;
6 They cried out to Yahweh in their distress, he rescued them from their plight,	6 pero en la angustia invocaron al Señor, y él los libró de sus tribulaciones:
7 he set them on the road, straight to an inhabited city.	7 los llevó por el camino recto, y así llegaron a un lugar habitable.
8 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	8 Den gracias al Señor por su misericordia y por sus maravillas en favor de los hombres,
9 He has fed the hungry to their hearts' content, filled the starving with good things.	9 porque él sació a los que sufrían sed y colmó de bienes a los hambrientos.
10 Sojourners in gloom and shadow dark as death, fettered in misery and chains,	10 Estaban en tinieblas, entre sombras de muerte, encadenados y en la miseria,
11 for defying the orders of Yahweh, for scorning the plan of the Most High-	11 por haber desafiado las órdenes de Dios y despreciado el designio del Altísimo.
12 he subdued their spirit by hard labour; if they fel there was no one to help.	12 El los había agobiado con sufrimientos, sucumbían, y nadie los ayudaba;
13 They cried out to Yahweh in their distress, he rescued them from their plight,	13 pero en la angustia invocaron al Señor, y él los libró de sus tribulaciones:
14 he brought them out from gloom and shadow dark as death, and shattered their chains.	14 los sacó de las tinieblas y las sombras, e hizo pedazos sus cadenas.
15 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	15 Den gracias al Señor por su misericordia y por sus maravillas en favor de los hombres,
16 He broke open gates of bronze and smashed iron bars.	16 porque él destrozó las puertas de bronce y quebró los cerrojos de hierro.
17 Fools for their rebellious ways, wretched because of their sins,	17 Estaban debilitados y oprimidos, a causa de sus rebeldías y sus culpas;
18 finding all food repugnant, brought close to the gates of death-	18 la comida les daba náuseas, y ya tocaban las puertas de la muerte.
19 they cried out to Yahweh in their distress; he rescued them from their plight,	19 Pero en la angustia invocaron al Señor, y él los libró de sus tribulaciones:
20 he sent out his word and cured them, and rescued their life from the abyss.	20 envió su palabra y los sanó, salvó sus vidas del sepulcro.
21 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	21 Den gracias al Señor por su misericordia y por sus maravillas en favor de los hombres:
22 Let them offer thanksgiving sacrifices, and recount with shouts of joy what he has done!	22 ofrézcanle sacrificios de acción de gracias y proclamen con júbilo sus obras.
23 Voyagers on the sea in ships, plying their trade on the great ocean,	23 Los que viajaron en barco por el mar, para traficar por las aguas inmensas,
24 have seen the works of Yahweh, his wonders in the deep.	24 contemplaron las obras del Señor, sus maravillas en el océano profundo.
25 By his word he raised a storm-wind, lashing up towering waves.	25 Con su palabra desató un vendaval, que encrespaba las olas del océano:
26 Up to the sky then down to the depths! Their stomachs were turned to water;	26 ellos subían hasta el cielo, bajaban al abismo, se sentían desfallecer por el mareo,
27 they staggered and reeled like drunkards, and al their skill went under.	27 se tambaleaban dando tumbos como ebrios, y su pericia no les valía de nada.
28 They cried out to Yahweh in their distress, he rescued them from their plight,	28 Pero en la angustia invocaron al Señor, y él los libró de sus tribulaciones:
29 he reduced the storm to a calm, and al the waters subsided,	29 cambió el huracán en una brisa suave y se aplacaron las olas del mar;
30 and he brought them, overjoyed at the stillness, to the port where they were bound.	30 entonces se alegraron de aquella calma, y el Señor los condujo al puerto deseado.
31 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	31 Den gracias al Señor por su misericordia y por sus maravillas en favor de los hombres:
32 Let them extol him in the assembly of the people, and praise him in the council of elders.	32 aclámenlo en la asamblea del pueblo, alábenlo en el consejo de los ancianos.
33 He has turned rivers into desert, bubbling springs into arid ground,	33 El hizo de los ríos un desierto y de los oasis, una tierra estéril;
34 fertile country into salt-flats, because the people living there were evil.	34 transformó el suelo fértil en una salina, por la maldad de sus habitantes.
35 But he has turned desert into stretches of water, arid ground into bubbling springs,	35 Convirtió el desierto en un lago, y la tierra reseca en un oasis:
36 and has given the hungry a home, where they have built themselves a city.	36 allí puso a los hambrientos, y ellos fundaron una ciudad habitable.
37 There they sow fields and plant vines, and reap a harvest of their produce.	37 Sembraron campos y plantaron viñas, que produjeron frutos en las cosechas;
38 He blesses them and their numbers increase, he keeps their cattle at full strength.	38 él los bendijo y se multiplicaron, y no dejó que les faltara el ganado.
39 Their numbers had fal en, they had grown weak, under pressure of disaster and hardship;	39 Cuando eran pocos, y estaban abatidos por el peso de la desgracia y la aflicción,
40 he covered princes in contempt, left them to wander in trackless wastes.	40 el que cubre de vergüenza a los príncipes y los extravía por un desierto sin huellas,
41 But the needy he raises from their misery, makes their families as numerous as sheep.	41 levantó a los pobres de la miseria y multiplicó sus familias como rebaños.
42 At the sight the honest rejoice, and the wicked have nothing to say.	42 Que los justos lo vean y se alegren, y enmudezcan todos los malvados.
43 Who is wise? Such a one should take this to heart, and come to understand Yahweh's faithful love.	43 El que es sabio, que retenga estas cosas y comprenda la misericordia del Señor.
