Psalms 107

NEW JERUSALEM	NOVA VULGATA
1 Al eluia! Give thanks to Yahweh for he is good, his faithful love lasts for ever.	1 ALLELUIA. Confitemini Domino, quoniam bonus, quoniam in saeculum misericordia eius.
2 So let them say whom Yahweh redeemed, whom he redeemed from the power of their enemies,	2 Dicant, qui redempti sunt a Domino, quos redemit de manu adversarii
3 bringing them back from foreign lands, from east and west, north and south.	3 et de regionibus congregavit eos, a solis ortu et occasu, ab aquilone et mari.
4 They were wandering in the desert, in the wastelands, could find no way to an inhabited city;	4 Erraverunt in solitudine, in inaquoso, viam civitatis habitationis non invenerunt.

7 he set them on the road, straight to an inhabited city.	7 Et deduxit eos in viam rectam, ut irent in civitatem habitationis.
8 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	8 Confiteantur Domino propter misericordiam eius et mirabilia eius in filios hominum,
9 He has fed the hungry to their hearts' content, filled the starving with good things.	9 quia satiavit animam sitientem et animam esurientem replevit bonis.
10 Sojourners in gloom and shadow dark as death, fettered in misery and chains,	10 Sedentes in tenebris et umbra mortis, vincti in mendicitate et ferro,
11 for defying the orders of Yahweh, for scorning the plan of the Most High-	11 quia exacerbaverunt eloquia Dei et consilium Altissimi spreverunt.
12 he subdued their spirit by hard labour; if they fel there was no one to help.	12 Et humiliavit in laboribus cor eorum, infirmati sunt, nec fuit qui adiuvaret.
13 They cried out to Yahweh in their distress, he rescued them from their plight,	13 Et clamaverunt ad Dominum, cum tribularentur, et de necessitatibus eorum liberavit eos.
14 he brought them out from gloom and shadow dark as death, and shattered their chains.	14 Et eduxit eos de tenebris et umbra mortis et vincula eorum dirupit.
15 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	15 Confiteantur Domino propter misericordiam eius et mirabilia eius in filios hominum,
16 He broke open gates of bronze and smashed iron bars.	16 quia contrivit portas aereas et vectes ferreos confregit.
17 Fools for their rebellious ways, wretched because of their sins,	17 Stulti facti sunt in via iniquitatis suae et propter iniustitias suas afflicti sunt;
18 finding all food repugnant, brought close to the gates of death-	18 omnem escam abominata est anima eorum, et appropinquaverunt usque ad portas mortis.
19 they cried out to Yahweh in their distress; he rescued them from their plight,	19 Et clamaverunt ad Dominum, cum tribularentur, et de necessitatibus eorum liberavit eos.
20 he sent out his word and cured them, and rescued their life from the abyss.	20 Misit verbum suum et sanavit eos et eripuit eos de interitionibus eorum.
21 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	21 Confiteantur Domino propter misericordiam eius et mirabilia eius in filios hominum;
22 Let them offer thanksgiving sacrifices, and recount with shouts of joy what he has done!	22 et sacrificent sacrificium laudis et annuntient opera eius in exsultatione.
23 Voyagers on the sea in ships, plying their trade on the great ocean,	23 Qui descendunt mare in navibus, facientes operationem in aquis multis,
24 have seen the works of Yahweh, his wonders in the deep.	24 ipsi viderunt opera Domini et mirabilia eius in profundo.
25 By his word he raised a storm-wind, lashing up towering waves.	25 Dixit et excitavit spiritum procellae, et exaltati sunt fluctus eius.
26 Up to the sky then down to the depths! Their stomachs were turned to water;	26 Ascendunt usque ad caelos et descendunt usque ad abyssos; anima eorum in malis tabescebat.
27 they staggered and reeled like drunkards, and al their skill went under.	27 Turbati sunt et moti sunt sicut ebrius, et omnis sapientia eorum devorata est.
28 They cried out to Yahweh in their distress, he rescued them from their plight,	28 Et clamaverunt ad Dominum, cum tribularentur, et de necessitatibus eorum eduxit eos.
29 he reduced the storm to a calm, and al the waters subsided,	29 Et statuit procellam eius in auram, et tacuerunt fluctus eius.
30 and he brought them, overjoyed at the stillness, to the port where they were bound.	30 Et laetati sunt, quia siluerunt, et deduxit eos in portum voluntatis eorum.
31 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	31 Confiteantur Domino propter misericordiam eius et mirabilia eius in filios hominum;
32 Let them extol him in the assembly of the people, and praise him in the council of elders.	32 et exaltent eum in ecclesia plebis et in conventu seniorum laudent eum.
33 He has turned rivers into desert, bubbling springs into arid ground,	33 Posuit flumina in desertum et exitus aquarum in sitim,
34 fertile country into salt-flats, because the people living there were evil.	34 terram fructiferam in salsuginem a malitia inhabitantium in ea.
35 But he has turned desert into stretches of water, arid ground into bubbling springs,	35 Posuit desertum in stagna aquarum et terram sine aqua in exitus aquarum.
36 and has given the hungry a home, where they have built themselves a city.	36 Et collocavit illic esurientes, et constituerunt civitatem habitationis.
37 There they sow fields and plant vines, and reap a harvest of their produce.	37 Et seminaverunt agros et plantaverunt vineas, et fecerunt fructum in proventum suum.
38 He blesses them and their numbers increase, he keeps their cattle at full strength.	38 Et benedixit eis, et multiplicati sunt nimis, et iumenta eorum non minoravit.
39 Their numbers had fal en, they had grown weak, under pressure of disaster and hardship;	39 Et pauci facti sunt et vexati sunt a tribulatione malorum et dolore.
40 he covered princes in contempt, left them to wander in trackless wastes.	40 Effudit contemptionem super principes et errare fecit eos in deserto invio.
41 But the needy he raises from their misery, makes their families as numerous as sheep.	41 Et suscepit pauperem de inopia et posuit sicut oves familias.
42 At the sight the honest rejoice, and the wicked have nothing to say.	42 Videbunt recti et laetabuntur, et omnis iniquitas oppilabit os suum.
43 Who is wise? Such a one should take this to heart, and come to understand Yahweh's faithful love.	43 Quis sapiens, et custodiet haec et intelleget misericordias Domini?.
