Psalms 107

1 Al eluia! Give thanks to Yahweh for he is good, his faithful love lasts for ever.	1 Rendete grazie al Signore perché è buono,perché il suo amore è per sempre.
2 So let them say whom Yahweh redeemed, whom he redeemed from the power of their enemies,	2 Lo dicano quelli che il Signore ha riscattato,che ha riscattato dalla mano dell’oppressore
3 bringing them back from foreign lands, from east and west, north and south.	3 e ha radunato da terre diverse,dall’oriente e dall’occidente,dal settentrione e dal mezzogiorno.
4 They were wandering in the desert, in the wastelands, could find no way to an inhabited city;	4 Alcuni vagavano nel deserto su strade perdute,senza trovare una città in cui abitare.
5 they were hungry and thirsty, their life was ebbing away.	5 Erano affamati e assetati,veniva meno la loro vita.
6 They cried out to Yahweh in their distress, he rescued them from their plight,	6 Nell’angustia gridarono al Signoreed egli li liberò dalle loro angosce.
7 he set them on the road, straight to an inhabited city.	7 Li guidò per una strada sicura,perché andassero verso una città in cui abitare.
8 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	8 Ringrazino il Signore per il suo amore,per le sue meraviglie a favore degli uomini,
9 He has fed the hungry to their hearts' content, filled the starving with good things.	9 perché ha saziato un animo assetato,un animo affamato ha ricolmato di bene.
10 Sojourners in gloom and shadow dark as death, fettered in misery and chains,	10 Altri abitavano nelle tenebre e nell’ombra di morte,prigionieri della miseria e dei ferri,
11 for defying the orders of Yahweh, for scorning the plan of the Most High-	11 perché si erano ribellati alle parole di Dioe avevano disprezzato il progetto dell’Altissimo.
12 he subdued their spirit by hard labour; if they fel there was no one to help.	12 Egli umiliò il loro cuore con le fatiche:cadevano e nessuno li aiutava.
13 They cried out to Yahweh in their distress, he rescued them from their plight,	13 Nell’angustia gridarono al Signore,ed egli li salvò dalle loro angosce.
14 he brought them out from gloom and shadow dark as death, and shattered their chains.	14 Li fece uscire dalle tenebre e dall’ombra di mortee spezzò le loro catene.
15 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	15 Ringrazino il Signore per il suo amore,per le sue meraviglie a favore degli uomini,
16 He broke open gates of bronze and smashed iron bars.	16 perché ha infranto le porte di bronzoe ha spezzato le sbarre di ferro.
17 Fools for their rebellious ways, wretched because of their sins,	17 Altri, stolti per la loro condotta ribelle,soffrivano per le loro colpe;
18 finding all food repugnant, brought close to the gates of death-	18 rifiutavano ogni sorta di ciboe già toccavano le soglie della morte.
19 they cried out to Yahweh in their distress; he rescued them from their plight,	19 Nell’angustia gridarono al Signore,ed egli li salvò dalle loro angosce.
20 he sent out his word and cured them, and rescued their life from the abyss.	20 Mandò la sua parola, li fece guariree li salvò dalla fossa.
21 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	21 Ringrazino il Signore per il suo amore,per le sue meraviglie a favore degli uomini.
22 Let them offer thanksgiving sacrifices, and recount with shouts of joy what he has done!	22 Offrano a lui sacrifici di ringraziamento,narrino le sue opere con canti di gioia.
23 Voyagers on the sea in ships, plying their trade on the great ocean,	23 Altri, che scendevano in mare sulle navie commerciavano sulle grandi acque,
24 have seen the works of Yahweh, his wonders in the deep.	24 videro le opere del Signoree le sue meraviglie nel mare profondo.
25 By his word he raised a storm-wind, lashing up towering waves.	25 Egli parlò e scatenò un vento burrascoso,che fece alzare le onde:
26 Up to the sky then down to the depths! Their stomachs were turned to water;	26 salivano fino al cielo, scendevano negli abissi;si sentivano venir meno nel pericolo.
27 they staggered and reeled like drunkards, and al their skill went under.	27 Ondeggiavano e barcollavano come ubriachi:tutta la loro abilità era svanita.
28 They cried out to Yahweh in their distress, he rescued them from their plight,	28 Nell’angustia gridarono al Signore,ed egli li fece uscire dalle loro angosce.
29 he reduced the storm to a calm, and al the waters subsided,	29 La tempesta fu ridotta al silenzio,tacquero le onde del mare.
30 and he brought them, overjoyed at the stillness, to the port where they were bound.	30 Al vedere la bonaccia essi gioirono,ed egli li condusse al porto sospirato.
31 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	31 Ringrazino il Signore per il suo amore,per le sue meraviglie a favore degli uomini.
32 Let them extol him in the assembly of the people, and praise him in the council of elders.	32 Lo esaltino nell’assemblea del popolo,lo lodino nell’adunanza degli anziani.
33 He has turned rivers into desert, bubbling springs into arid ground,	33 Cambiò i fiumi in deserto,in luoghi aridi le fonti d’acqua
34 fertile country into salt-flats, because the people living there were evil.	34 e la terra fertile in palude,per la malvagità dei suoi abitanti.
35 But he has turned desert into stretches of water, arid ground into bubbling springs,	35 Poi cambiò il deserto in distese d’acquae la terra arida in sorgenti d’acqua.
36 and has given the hungry a home, where they have built themselves a city.	36 Là fece abitare gli affamati,ed essi fondarono una città in cui abitare.
37 There they sow fields and plant vines, and reap a harvest of their produce.	37 Seminarono campi e piantarono vigne,che produssero frutti abbondanti.
38 He blesses them and their numbers increase, he keeps their cattle at full strength.	38 Li benedisse e si moltiplicarono,e non lasciò diminuire il loro bestiame.
39 Their numbers had fal en, they had grown weak, under pressure of disaster and hardship;	39 Poi diminuirono e furono abbattutidall’oppressione, dal male e dal dolore.
40 he covered princes in contempt, left them to wander in trackless wastes.	40 Colui che getta il disprezzo sui potentili fece vagare nel vuoto, senza strade.
41 But the needy he raises from their misery, makes their families as numerous as sheep.	41 Ma risollevò il povero dalla miseriae moltiplicò le sue famiglie come greggi.
42 At the sight the honest rejoice, and the wicked have nothing to say.	42 Vedano i giusti e ne gioiscano,e ogni malvagio chiuda la bocca.
43 Who is wise? Such a one should take this to heart, and come to understand Yahweh's faithful love.	43 Chi è saggio osservi queste cosee comprenderà l’amore del Signore.
