Psalms 107

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Al eluia! Give thanks to Yahweh for he is good, his faithful love lasts for ever.	1 Lodate il Signore perché è buono, poiché eterna è la sua misericordia.
2 So let them say whom Yahweh redeemed, whom he redeemed from the power of their enemies,	2 Lo dicano i riscattati del Signore, i riscattati dalla stretta dell'angustia,
3 bringing them back from foreign lands, from east and west, north and south.	3 i radunati dai vari paesi: dall'oriente e dall'occidente, dal settentrione e dal mezzogiorno.
4 They were wandering in the desert, in the wastelands, could find no way to an inhabited city;	4 Quanti vagavano nel deserto, nella steppa, non trovavano il cammino verso una città abitata;
5 they were hungry and thirsty, their life was ebbing away.	5 affamati e assetati, languiva in essi la loro anima.
6 They cried out to Yahweh in their distress, he rescued them from their plight,	6 Gridarono al Signore nella loro angustia, ed egli li liberò dalle loro strettezze:
7 he set them on the road, straight to an inhabited city.	7 li fece camminare nella via giusta in modo che giungessero ad una città abitata.
8 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	8 Ringrazino il Signore per la sua misericordia, per i suoi prodigi a vantaggio degli uomini;
9 He has fed the hungry to their hearts' content, filled the starving with good things.	9 poiché saziò l'anima assetata e l'anima affamata ricolmò di beni.
10 Sojourners in gloom and shadow dark as death, fettered in misery and chains,	10 Quanti sedevano in tenebre e ombra di morte, prigionieri dell'afflizione e del ferro,
11 for defying the orders of Yahweh, for scorning the plan of the Most High-	11 per essersi ribellati ai precetti di Dio e aver disprezzato i consigli dell'Altissimo.
12 he subdued their spirit by hard labour; if they fel there was no one to help.	12 Il loro cuore era abbattuto nella pena, giacevano oppressi e nessuno li aiutava.
13 They cried out to Yahweh in their distress, he rescued them from their plight,	13 Gridarono al Signore nella loro angustia ed egli li salvò dalle loro strettezze:
14 he brought them out from gloom and shadow dark as death, and shattered their chains.	14 li trasse dalle tenebre e ombra di morte, frantumando le loro catene.
15 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	15 Ringrazino il Signore per la sua misericordia, per i suoi prodigi a vantaggio degli uomini;
16 He broke open gates of bronze and smashed iron bars.	16 poiché infranse le porte di bronzo, mandò in frantumi le sbarre di ferro.
17 Fools for their rebellious ways, wretched because of their sins,	17 Erano infermi per la loro condotta malvagia ed erano oppressi per le loro colpe;
18 finding all food repugnant, brought close to the gates of death-	18 qualunque nutrimento aborriva la loro anima e già toccavano le soglie della morte.
19 they cried out to Yahweh in their distress; he rescued them from their plight,	19 Gridarono al Signore nella loro angustia, ed egli li salvò dalle loro strettezze:
20 he sent out his word and cured them, and rescued their life from the abyss.	20 inviò la sua parola e li guarì, li strappò dalla fossa già pronta per loro.
21 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	21 Ringrazino il Signore per la sua misericordia, per i suoi prodigi a vantaggio degli uomini.
22 Let them offer thanksgiving sacrifices, and recount with shouts of joy what he has done!	22 Offrano a lui sacrifici di lode e annunzino con giubilo le sue azioni.
23 Voyagers on the sea in ships, plying their trade on the great ocean,	23 Quelli che scendono in mare sulle navi, facendo commercio sulle grandi acque,
24 have seen the works of Yahweh, his wonders in the deep.	24 videro le opere del Signore, i suoi prodigi nella profondità del mare.
25 By his word he raised a storm-wind, lashing up towering waves.	25 Disse e fece soffiare un vento di tempesta sollevando in alto le onde marine:
26 Up to the sky then down to the depths! Their stomachs were turned to water;	26 salivano fino al cielo, sprofondavano fino nell'abisso; languiva la loro anima nell'affanno;
27 they staggered and reeled like drunkards, and al their skill went under.	27 vacillavano, barcollavano come ubriachi, era svanita ogni loro perizia.
28 They cried out to Yahweh in their distress, he rescued them from their plight,	28 Gridarono al Signore nella loro angustia e li fece uscire dalle loro strettezze:
29 he reduced the storm to a calm, and al the waters subsided,	29 egli ridusse la tempesta in calma, e s'acquetarono le onde del mare.
30 and he brought them, overjoyed at the stillness, to the port where they were bound.	30 Al loro placarsi furono pieni di gioia, ed egli li guidò al porto che bramavano.
31 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!	31 Ringrazino il Signore per la sua misericordia, per i suoi prodigi a vantaggio degli uomini;
32 Let them extol him in the assembly of the people, and praise him in the council of elders.	32 lo esaltino nell'assemblea del popolo e lo lodino nel consesso degli anziani.
33 He has turned rivers into desert, bubbling springs into arid ground,	33 Tramutò i fiumi in deserto e le sorgenti d'acqua in terra arida;
34 fertile country into salt-flats, because the people living there were evil.	34 la terra ferace in salsedine, a causa della malizia dei suoi abitanti.
35 But he has turned desert into stretches of water, arid ground into bubbling springs,	35 Trasformò poi il deserto in lago, la terra arida in sorgenti di acqua.
36 and has given the hungry a home, where they have built themselves a city.	36 Là fece dimorare quanti erano affamati ed essi eressero una città da abitare.
37 There they sow fields and plant vines, and reap a harvest of their produce.	37 Seminarono campi e piantarono vigne e raccolsero in abbondanza i loro frutti.
38 He blesses them and their numbers increase, he keeps their cattle at full strength.	38 Li benedisse e si moltiplicarono assai e non fece diminuire il loro bestiame.
39 Their numbers had fal en, they had grown weak, under pressure of disaster and hardship;	39 Ma poi furono ridotti a pochi e tribolati, per oppressioni, sventure e malanni.
40 he covered princes in contempt, left them to wander in trackless wastes.	40 Chi effonde il disprezzo sui potenti li fa vagare in un deserto impervio.
41 But the needy he raises from their misery, makes their families as numerous as sheep.	41 Ma sollevò il misero dalla sua afflizione e rese le famiglie numerose come un gregge.
42 At the sight the honest rejoice, and the wicked have nothing to say.	42 Vedano i giusti e si rallegrino, ma ogni malvagità chiuda la sua bocca.
43 Who is wise? Such a one should take this to heart, and come to understand Yahweh's faithful love.	43 Chi è saggio da osservare queste cose, da comprendere le misericordie del Signore?
