1 Bildad of Shuah spoke next. He said:	1 Ma Baldad di Sudi prese la parola, e disse:
2 How much longer are you going to talk like this and go blustering on in this way?	2 Fino a quando discorrerai tu in simil guisa, e le parole della tua bocca saranno un vento furioso?
3 Can God deflect the course of right or Shaddai falsify justice?	3 Forse Dio non è retto nel giudicare, e l'Onnipotente altera la giustizia?
4 If your sons sinned against him, he has punished them for their wrong-doing.	4 Abbenchè abbiano i tuoi figliuoli peccato contro di lui, ed ei gli abbia lasciati in balìa della loro iniquità,
5 You for your part, if you are pure and honest, must now seek God, plead with Shaddai.	5 Nulladimeno se tu con sollecitudine ricorri a Dio, e preghi l'Onnipotente:
6 Forthwith his light wil shine on you and he wil restore an upright man's house to prosperity.	6 Se camminerai con innocenza, e rettitudine, egli tosto si sveglierà in tuo soccorso, e la pace renderà all'abitazione di tua innocenza:
7 Your former state wil seem as nothing to you, so great wil your future be.	7 Talmente che se i tuoi principj furono piccoli, l'ultimo stato tuo sarà grande oltre modo.
8 Question the generation that has passed, meditate on the experience of its ancestors-	8 Imperocché interroga le passate generazioni, e diligentemente riscontrai le memorie de' padri:
9 for we children of yesterday, we know nothing, our life on earth passes like a shadow-	9 (Perocché noi siamo di jeri, e siamo ignoranti, mentre un'ombra sono i giorni nostri sopra la terra.)
10 but they wil teach you, they will tel you, and their thought is expressed in these sayings,	10 E quelli ti istruiranno, parleranno a te, e dal cuor loro metteran fuora le lor sentenze.
11 'Can papyrus flourish except in marshes? Without water can the rushes grow?	11 Può egli il giunco serbarsi verde senza l'umore, o crescere senz'acqua la carice?
12 Even when green and before being cut, fastest of al plants they wither.	12 Mentre ella è in vigore, senza che mano alcuna la offenda inaridisce prima che tutte le altre erbe:
13 Such is the fate of al who forget God; so perishes the hope of the godless.	13 Tal' è la sorte di tutti quelli, che si scordano di Dio: così la speranza dell'ipocrita andrà in fumo:
14 His hope is nothing but gossamer, his confidence a spider's web.	14 Ei non si vanterà di sua stoltezza, e la sua fidanza sarà qual tela di ragno.
15 Let him lean on his house, it wil not stand firm; cling to it, it wil not hold.	15 Egli si appoggerà alla sua casa, e questa traballerà; la appuntellerà, e non istarà ritta:
16 Like some lush plant in the sunlight, he sent his young shoots sprouting over the garden;	16 Una pianta si vede fresca prima che venga il sole, e nel suol nativo germoglia.
17 but his roots were twined in a heap of stones, he drew his life among the rocks.	17 Le sue radici si implicano in una massa di pietre, ed ella vive trai sassi.
18 Snatch him from his bed, and it denies it ever saw him.	18 Se uno la svellerà dal suo sito, ella vi rinunzierà dicendo: Non ho che fare con te.
19 Now he rots on the roadside, and others are springing up in the soil.	19 Perocché la fortuna di sua condizione è questa, che altri polloni spuntino di nuovo da quella terra.
20 Believe me, God neither spurns anyone of integrity, nor lends his aid to the evil.	20 Dio non rigetta l'uomo dabbene, ma non porgerà la mano ai malvagj:
21 Once again laughter may fil your mouth and cries of joy break from your lips.	21 Tu una volta avrai in bocca il riso, e sulle tue labbra canti di allegrezza.
22 Your enemies will be covered with shame and the tent of the wicked wil vanish!'	22 Coloro che ti odiano saranno coperti di confusione; ma il padiglione degli empj non sussisterà.
