1 Bildad of Shuah spoke next. He said:	1 Bildad di Suach prese a dire:
2 How much longer are you going to talk like this and go blustering on in this way?	2 «Fino a quando dirai queste cose e vento impetuoso saranno le parole della tua bocca?
3 Can God deflect the course of right or Shaddai falsify justice?	3 Può forse Dio sovvertire il diritto o l’Onnipotente sovvertire la giustizia?
4 If your sons sinned against him, he has punished them for their wrong-doing.	4 Se i tuoi figli hanno peccato contro di lui, li ha abbandonati in balìa delle loro colpe.
5 You for your part, if you are pure and honest, must now seek God, plead with Shaddai.	5 Se tu cercherai Dio e implorerai l’Onnipotente,
6 Forthwith his light wil shine on you and he wil restore an upright man's house to prosperity.	6 se puro e integro tu sarai, allora egli veglierà su di te e renderà prospera la dimora della tua giustizia;
7 Your former state wil seem as nothing to you, so great wil your future be.	7 anzi, piccola cosa sarà la tua condizione di prima e quella futura sarà molto più grande.
8 Question the generation that has passed, meditate on the experience of its ancestors-	8 Chiedilo infatti alle generazioni passate, considera l’esperienza dei loro padri,
9 for we children of yesterday, we know nothing, our life on earth passes like a shadow-	9 perché noi siamo di ieri e nulla sappiamo, un’ombra sono i nostri giorni sulla terra.
10 but they wil teach you, they will tel you, and their thought is expressed in these sayings,	10 Non ti istruiranno e non ti parleranno traendo dal cuore le loro parole?
11 'Can papyrus flourish except in marshes? Without water can the rushes grow?	11 Cresce forse il papiro fuori della palude e si sviluppa forse il giunco senz’acqua?
12 Even when green and before being cut, fastest of al plants they wither.	12 Ancora verde, non buono per tagliarlo, inaridirebbe prima di ogni altra erba.
13 Such is the fate of al who forget God; so perishes the hope of the godless.	13 Tale è la sorte di chi dimentica Dio, così svanisce la speranza dell’empio;
14 His hope is nothing but gossamer, his confidence a spider's web.	14 la sua fiducia è come un filo e una tela di ragno è la sua sicurezza:
15 Let him lean on his house, it wil not stand firm; cling to it, it wil not hold.	15 se si appoggia alla sua casa, essa non resiste, se vi si aggrappa, essa non regge.
16 Like some lush plant in the sunlight, he sent his young shoots sprouting over the garden;	16 Rigoglioso si mostra in faccia al sole e sopra il giardino si spandono i suoi rami,
17 but his roots were twined in a heap of stones, he drew his life among the rocks.	17 sul terreno sassoso s’intrecciano le sue radici e tra le pietre si abbarbica.
18 Snatch him from his bed, and it denies it ever saw him.	18 Ma se lo si strappa dal suo luogo, questo lo rinnega: “Non ti ho mai visto!”.
19 Now he rots on the roadside, and others are springing up in the soil.	19 Ecco la gioia del suo destino e dalla terra altri rispuntano.
20 Believe me, God neither spurns anyone of integrity, nor lends his aid to the evil.	20 Dunque, Dio non rigetta l’uomo integro e non sostiene la mano dei malfattori.
21 Once again laughter may fil your mouth and cries of joy break from your lips.	21 Colmerà di nuovo la tua bocca di sorriso e le tue labbra di gioia.
22 Your enemies will be covered with shame and the tent of the wicked wil vanish!'	22 I tuoi nemici saranno coperti di vergogna, la tenda degli empi più non sarà».
