8 Question the generation that has passed, meditate on the experience of its ancestors-	8 Perciocchè domanda pur le età primiere, E disponti ad informarti da’ padri loro;
9 for we children of yesterday, we know nothing, our life on earth passes like a shadow-	9 Imperocchè, quant’è a noi, siamo sol da ieri in qua, E non abbiamo intendimento; Perchè i nostri giorni son come un’ombra sopra la terra;
10 but they wil teach you, they will tel you, and their thought is expressed in these sayings,	10 Non insegnerannoti essi, e non parlerannoti, E non trarranno essi fuori ragionamenti dal cuor loro?
11 'Can papyrus flourish except in marshes? Without water can the rushes grow?	11 Il giunco sorgerà egli senza pantano? L’erba de’ prati crescerà ella senz’acqua?
12 Even when green and before being cut, fastest of al plants they wither.	12 E pure, mentre è ancor verde, e non è ancora segata, Si secca avanti ogni altra erba.
13 Such is the fate of al who forget God; so perishes the hope of the godless.	13 Tali son le vie di tutti quelli che dimenticano Iddio, E così perirà la speranza dell’ipocrita;
