1 Bildad of Shuah spoke next. He said:	1 Bildad de Chouah prit la parole et dit:
2 How much longer are you going to talk like this and go blustering on in this way?	2 Jusqu’à quand vas-tu prolonger ce discours, et ces paroles, comme un vent qui n’en finit pas?
3 Can God deflect the course of right or Shaddai falsify justice?	3 Dieu est-il capable de tourner la justice? Le Tout-Puissant fausserait-il le droit?
4 If your sons sinned against him, he has punished them for their wrong-doing.	4 Si tes fils ont péché contre lui, il les a fait payer pour leurs fautes.
5 You for your part, if you are pure and honest, must now seek God, plead with Shaddai.	5 Mais si toi tu as recours à Dieu, si tu implores le Tout-Puissant,
6 Forthwith his light wil shine on you and he wil restore an upright man's house to prosperity.	6 si toi, tu es pur et droit, aussitôt il prendra soin de toi pour te mettre en la demeure que mérite ta droiture.
7 Your former state wil seem as nothing to you, so great wil your future be.	7 Le passé te semblera peu de chose tant l’avenir sera meilleur.
8 Question the generation that has passed, meditate on the experience of its ancestors-	8 Demande à l’ancienne génération, et remonte à l’expérience de leurs pères.
9 for we children of yesterday, we know nothing, our life on earth passes like a shadow-	9 Car nous sommes nés d’hier et ne savons guère, nos jours passent sur terre comme une ombre.
10 but they wil teach you, they will tel you, and their thought is expressed in these sayings,	10 Mais eux peuvent t’instruire et te parler, et ces quelques mots te diront ce qu’ils sentent:
11 'Can papyrus flourish except in marshes? Without water can the rushes grow?	11 “Le papyrus va-t-il pousser hors des marais? Le roseau se développera-t-il sans eau?
12 Even when green and before being cut, fastest of al plants they wither.	12 Même vert, avant qu’on le coupe avant toute autre plante il se déssèche”.
13 Such is the fate of al who forget God; so perishes the hope of the godless.	13 C’est ainsi que termine celui qui oublie Dieu, et que se perdent les espoirs de l’impie.
14 His hope is nothing but gossamer, his confidence a spider's web.	14 Sa confiance s’accrochait à un fil, il faisait fond sur une toile d’araignée.
15 Let him lean on his house, it wil not stand firm; cling to it, it wil not hold.	15 Il s’appuie sur sa maison, et elle cède, il s’y accroche: elle s’écroule.
16 Like some lush plant in the sunlight, he sent his young shoots sprouting over the garden;	16 Il était plein de vigueur au soleil et couvrait le jardin de ses jeunes pousses:
17 but his roots were twined in a heap of stones, he drew his life among the rocks.	17 ses racines serpentaient sur la pente, elles s’accrochaient entre les roches.
18 Snatch him from his bed, and it denies it ever saw him.	18 À peine l’as-tu arraché de sa place, elle le renie: “Je ne t’ai jamais vu!”
19 Now he rots on the roadside, and others are springing up in the soil.	19 Le voilà pourrissant sur le chemin: un autre bientôt est sorti du sol.
20 Believe me, God neither spurns anyone of integrity, nor lends his aid to the evil.	20 Non! Dieu ne méprise pas celui qui est parfait, pas plus qu’il ne soutient ceux qui sont malfaisants.
21 Once again laughter may fil your mouth and cries of joy break from your lips.	21 Il remplira encore ta bouche de rires, et mettra sur tes lèvres les cris de joie.
22 Your enemies will be covered with shame and the tent of the wicked wil vanish!'	22 Tes ennemis seront couverts de honte, et l’on ne verra plus la demeure des méchants.
