Job 36

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Elihu went on speaking. He said:	1 Elihú tomó la palabra y dijo:
2 Be patient a little longer while I explain, for I have more to say on God's behalf.	2 Sopórtame un poco, y yo te instruiré: aún queda algo por decir en defensa de Dios.
3 I shal range far afield for my arguments to prove my Maker just.	3 Traeré de lejos mi saber para justificar a mi Creador
4 I guarantee, nothing I shal say wil be untrue: you have a man of sound learning here.	4 No, mis palabras no mienten: es un maestro consumado el que está junto a ti.
5 God does not reject anyone whose heart is pure	5 Dios es grande y no se retracta, él es grande por la firmeza de sus decisiones.
6 or let the sinner live on in al his power. He does accord fair judgement to the afflicted;	6 El no deja vivir al malvado y hace justicia a los oprimidos
7 he does uphold what the upright deserve. When he raises kings to thrones, if they grow proud of theirunending rule,	7 No retira sus ojos de los justos, los sienta en el trono con los reyes y los exalta para siempre.
8 then he fetters them with chains, they are caught in the bonds of affliction.	8 Si a veces están atados con cadenas, o prisioneros en los lazos de opresión,
9 He shows them the import of their deeds, of the sins of pride they have committed.	9 es para denunciarles sus acciones y las rebeldías que cometieron en su arrogancia.
10 In their ears he sounds a warning, ordering them to turn back from doing wrong.	10 El les abre el oído para que se corrijan y los exhorta a convertirse de la maldad.
11 If they take notice and obey him, the rest of their days are prosperous and the years pass pleasantly.	11 Si ellos escuchan y se someten, acaban sus días prósperamente y sus años en medio de delicias;
12 If not, they go down the Canal and perish in their stupidity.	12 pero si no escuchan, atraviesan el Canal y perecen a causa de su ignorancia.
13 The stubborn, who cherish their anger and do not cry for help when he chains them,	13 Los de corazón impío, que acumulan rencor y no piden auxilio cuando él los encadena,
14 die in the bloom of youth or live among the male prostitutes of the temple.	14 mueren en plena juventud, como se consumen los de vida licenciosa.
15 But God saves the afflicted by his affliction, warning him in his misery.	15 Con la opresión, él salva al oprimido y le abre el oído por medio de la aflicción.
16 You, too, he would like to snatch from torment. While you were enjoying boundless abundance, withrich food piled high on your table,	16 También a ti te invita a pasar de la angustia a un lugar espacioso y sin estrechez, donde tu mesa, bien servida, estará llena de manjares.
17 you did not bring the wicked to trial and did not give fair judgement to the orphan.	17 Pero si tu medida está colmada para el juicio condenatorio, el juicio y la sentencia te arrastrarán.
18 Beware of being led astray by abundance, of being corrupted by expensive presents.	18 Que el furor no te incite a la rebeldía ni te extravíe la magnitud de la expiación.
19 Take the powerful to law, not merely the penniless, those whose arm is strong, not merely the weak.	19 ¿Acaso en el peligro valdrán ante Dios tus riquezas y todos los alardes de la fuerza?
20 Do not crush people you do not know to instal your relations in their place.	20 No suspires por aquella noche en que los pueblos serán arrancados de su sitio,
21 Avoid any tendency to wrong-doing, for this is why affliction is testing you now.	21 ¡Cuídate de volverte hacia la maldad, ya que por eso fuiste probado con la desgracia!
22 See, God is sublime in his strength and who can teach lessons as he does?	22 Sí, Dios es sublime por la fuerza: ¿quién instruye como él?
23 Who has even told him which course to take, or dared to say to him, 'You have done wrong'?	23 ¿Quién inspecciona su conducta? ¿Quién puede decirle: «Has obrado mal»?
24 Consider, rather, how you may praise his work, a theme that many have sung.	24 Acuérdate más bien de exaltar su obra, que otros hombres celebren con sus cantos.
25 This is something that everyone can see, gazing, as we do, from afar.	25 Todo el mundo la contempla, el hombre la percibe desde lejos.
26 Yes, the greatness of God exceeds our knowledge, the number of his years is past counting.	26 Sí, Dios es tan grande que no podemos comprenderlo, el número de sus años es insondable.
27 It is he who makes the raindrops smal and pulverises the rain into mist.	27 El atrae hacia lo alto las gotas de agua y destila la lluvia que alimenta las vertientes:
28 And the clouds then pour this out, sending it streaming down on the human race.	28 la lluvia que derraman las nubes y que cae a raudales sobre el suelo.
29 And who can fathom how he spreads the clouds, or why such crashes thunder from his tent?	29 ¿Quién comprenderá el desplazamiento de las nubes y el fragor que sale de su morada?
30 He spreads a mist before him and covers the tops of the mountains.	30 El extiende su luz a su alrededor y sumerge las profundidades del océano.
31 By these means, he sustains the peoples, giving them plenty to eat.	31 Así él sustenta a los pueblos y les da alimento en abundancia.
32 He gathers up the lightning in his hands, assigning it the mark where to strike.	32 Cubre de rayos la palma de sus manos y le señala un blanco seguro.
33 His crashing gives warning of its coming, anger flashes out against iniquity.	33 Su trueno anuncia su llegada, y en su ira, él crea la tempestad.
