Job 34

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Elihu continued his speech. He said:	1 Elihú tomó la palabra y dijo:
2 And now, you sages, listen to what I say, lend me your ears, you learned men.	2 ¡Escuchen, sabios, mis palabras, y ustedes, los expertos, préstenme atención!
3 The ear distinguishes the value of what is said, just as the palate can tel one food from another.	3 Porque el oído discierne las palabras como el paladar gusta los alimentos.
4 Let us consider together God's ruling and decide what we all mean by good.	4 Decidamos entre nosotros lo que es recto, reconozcamos todos juntos lo que es bueno.
5 Job has been saying, 'I am upright and God denies me fair judgement.	5 Porque Job declara: «Yo tengo razón, pero Dios me privó de mi derecho.
6 My judge is treating me cruel y, my wound is incurable, for no fault of mine.'	6 El miente en lo que concierne a mi caso; mi llaga es incurable, aunque no cometí ninguna falta».
7 Can anyone else exist like Job, who laps up mockery like water,	7 ¿Hay alguien como Job, que bebe los sarcasmos como agua,
8 who consorts with evil-doers and marches in step with the wicked?	8 que va en compañía de los malhechores y camina con los hombres perversos?
9 Did he not say, 'No one derives any benefit from enjoying the society of God'?	9 Porque él dice: «Al hombre no le sirve de nada tratar de obtener el favor de Dios».
10 Listen to me then, like intel igent people. Far be evil from God or injustice from Shaddai!	10 Por eso, escúchenme, hombres sensatos: ¡lejos de Dios la maldad, y del Todopoderoso, la injusticia!
11 For he pays people back for what they do, treating each as his own conduct deserves.	11 Porque él retribuye al hombre según sus obras y trata a cada uno conforme a su conducta.
12 Be sure of it: God never does wrong, Shaddai does not pervert what is just.	12 ¡No, no es cierto que Dios hace el mal y que el Todopoderoso tergiversa el derecho!
13 Did someone else entrust the world to his care was he given charge of the universe by someoneelse?	13 ¿Quién le ha encomendado la tierra y quién lo encargó del mundo entero?
14 If he were to recal his spirit, to concentrate his breath back in himself,	14 Si él retirara su espíritu y recogiera su aliento de vida,
15 all flesh would instantly perish and al people would return to dust.	15 todos los vivientes expirarían a la vez y los hombres volverían al polvo.
16 If you have any intel igence, listen to this, lend your ear to the sound of my words.	16 Si tienes inteligencia, escucha esto, presta atención al sonido de mis palabras.
17 Could an enemy of fair judgement ever govern? Would you dare condemn the Upright One, theAlmighty,	17 ¿Sabría gobernar al Justo, al Poderoso?
18 who says to a king, 'You are a scoundrel!' and to nobles, 'You are wicked!',	18 ¡A él, que llama «¡Inútil!» a un rey y «¡Malvados!» a los dignatarios,
19 who is unimpressed by princes and makes no distinction between rich and poor, since al alike havebeen made by him?	19 que no toma partido por los príncipes ni favorece al rico en perjuicio del pobre, porque todos son obra de sus manos!
20 They die suddenly, at dead of night, they perish -- these great ones -- and disappear: it costs him noeffort to remove a tyrant.	20 Ellos mueren en un instante, en plena noche; él hiere a los nobles, y desaparecen, depone al hombre fuerte sin la ayuda de nadie.
21 For his eyes keep watch on human ways, and he observes every step.	21 Porque sus ojos miran los caminos del hombre y él observa sus pasos:
22 No darkness, no shadow dark as death where wrong-doers can hide!	22 no hay tinieblas ni oscuridad donde puedan ocultarse los que hacen el mal.
23 He serves no writ on anyone, no summons to appear before God's court:	23 Porque él no fija al hombre una fecha para presentarse a juicio ante Dios:
24 he breaks the powerful without enquiry and sets up others in their places.	24 él quebrante a los grandes sin previo examen y pone a otros en lugar de ellos.
25 He knows the sort of things they do! He overthrows them at night, to be trampled on.	25 Así, porque él conoce todas sus acciones, los derriba en una noche, y quedan aplastados.
26 He beats them like criminals chained up for al to see,	26 Los abofetea como a malhechores en un lugar que está a la vista de todos,
27 since they have turned their backs on him, having understood so little of his ways	27 porque se negaron a seguirlo y no comprendieron todos sus caminos,
28 as to make the cries of the weak rise to him and let him hear the appeal of the afflicted.	28 haciendo que llegara hasta él el grito del pobre y que él escuchara el clamor de los oprimidos.
29 But if he is stil silent and no one can move him, if he veils his face, so that no one can see him, he istaking pity on nations and individuals,	29 Si él se queda inmóvil, ¿quién lo sacudirá? Si cubre su rostro, ¿quién lo verá? El vigila, sin embargo, a naciones e individuos
30 is setting some wrong-doer free from the meshes of affliction.	30 para que no reine ningún hombre impío, uno de esos que son una trampa para el pueblo.
31 When such a one says to God, 'I was misled, I shal not do wrong any more;	31 Tú solo tienes que decir a Dios: «Yo fui seducido, no volveré a hacer el mal;
32 although I have sinned, instruct me; although I did wrong, I will not do it again,'	32 instrúyeme, hasta que pueda ver. Si cometí una injusticia, no voy a reincidir».
33 in your opinion, should he punish such a one -- you who have rejected his decisions? This is for youto decide -- not for me!- so kindly enlighten us!	33 ¿Acaso él retribuirá según tu parecer, siendo así que tú has despreciado su instrucción? Ya que eres tú el que decide, no yo, dile todo lo que sepas.
34 Ordinary sensible people, however, wil say to me, and so wil any sage who has been listening tome,	34 Los hombres sensatos me dirán y también todo sabio que me escuche:
35 'Job's words are spoken without any knowledge, what he says shows no intel igence.	35 «Job no sabe lo que dice y sus palabras carecen de sentido».
36 Kindly examine him thoroughly, since his answers imply that he is a criminal.	36 Que Job sea examinado hasta el final por haber respondido como un hombre perverso.
37 For to his sin he now adds rebellion, bringing law to an end among us and heaping abuse on God.'	37 Porque él, a su pecado, añade la rebeldía, aplaude en medio de nosotros y multiplica sus palabras contra Dios.
