NEW JERUSALEM	VULGATA
1 These are the descendants of Esau, that is, Edom.	1 Hæ sunt autem generationes Esau, ipse est Edom.
2 Esau chose his wives from the women of Canaan: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, Oholibamahdaughter of Anah, son of Zibeon the Horite,	2 Esau accepit uxores de filiabus Chanaan : Ada filiam Elon Hethæi, et Oolibama filiam Anæ filiæ Sebeon Hevæi :
3 Basemath daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.	3 Basemath quoque filiam Ismaël sororem Nabaioth.
4 Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, Basemath bore Reuel,	4 Peperit autem Ada Eliphaz : Basemath genuit Rahuel :
5 Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These were the sons of Esau born to him in Canaan.	5 Oolibama genuit Jehus et Ihelon et Core. Hi filii Esau qui nati sunt ei in terra Chanaan.
6 Esau took his wives, his sons and daughters, al the members of his household, his livestock, al hiscattle and al the goods he had acquired in Canaan and left for Seir, away from his brother Jacob.	6 Tulit autem Esau uxores suas et filios et filias, et omnem animam domus suæ, et substantiam, et pecora, et cuncta quæ habere poterat in terra Chanaan : et abiit in alteram regionem, recessitque a fratre suo Jacob.
7 For they had acquired too much to live together. The land in which they were at that time could notsupport them both because of their livestock.	7 Divites enim erant valde, et simul habitare non poterant : nec sustinebat eos terra peregrinationis eorum præ multitudine gregum.
8 That is why Edom settled in the mountainous region of Seir. Esau is Edom.	8 Habitavitque Esau in monte Seir, ipse est Edom.
9 These are the descendants of Esau, ancestor of Edom, in the mountainous region of Seir.	9 Hæ autem sunt generationes Esau patris Edom in monte Seir,
10 These are the names of Esau's sons: Eliphaz son of Esau's wife Adah, and Reuel son of Esau's wifeBasemath.	10 et hæc nomina filiorum ejus : Eliphaz filius Ada uxoris Esau : Rahuel quoque filius Basemath uxoris ejus.
11 The sons of Eliphaz were: Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam and Kenaz.	11 Fueruntque Eliphaz filii : Theman, Omar, Sepho, et Gatham, et Cenez.
12 Eliphaz son of Esau had Timna for concubine and she bore him Amalek. These were the sons ofEsau's wife Adah.	12 Erat autem Thamna concubina Eliphaz filii Esau : quæ peperit ei Amalech. Hi sunt filii Ada uxoris Esau.
13 These were the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah. These were the sons ofEsau's wife Basemath.	13 Filii autem Rahuel : Nahath et Zara, Samma et Meza : hi filii Basemath uxoris Esau.
14 And these were the sons of Esau's wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah, son of Zibeon: she bore himJeush, Jalam and Korah.	14 Isti quoque erant filii Oolibama filiæ Anæ filiæ Sebeon, uxoris Esau, quos genuit ei, Jehus et Ihelon et Core.
15 These are the chieftains of Esau. The descendants of Eliphaz, Esau's eldest son: the chieftains ofTeman, Omar, Zepho, Kenaz,	15 Hi duces filiorum Esau : filii Eliphaz primogeniti Esau : dux Theman, dux Omra, dux Sepho, dux Cenez,
16 Gatam and Amalek. These are the chieftains of Eliphaz in Edom and are descended from Adah.	16 dux Core, dux Gathan, dux Amalech. Hi filii Eliphaz in terra Edom, et hi filii Ada.
17 The descendants of Esau's son Reuel: the chieftains of Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah.These are the chieftains of Reuel in Edom and are descended from Esau's wife Basemath.	17 Hi quoque filii Rahuel filii Esau : dux Nahath, dux Zara, dux Samma, dux Meza : hi autem duces Rahuel in terra Edom : isti filii Basemath uxoris Esau.
18 The descendants of Esau's wife Oholibamah: the chieftains of Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These arethe chieftains of Esau's wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah.	18 Hi autem filii Oolibama uxoris Esau : dux Jehus, dux Ihelon, dux Core : hi duces Oolibama filiæ Anæ uxoris Esau.
19 These were the sons of Esau -- that is, Edom -- and these are their chieftains.	19 Isti sunt filii Esau, et hi duces eorum : ipse est Edom.
20 These are the sons of Seir the Horite, natives of the country: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,	20 Isti sunt filii Seir Horræi, habitatores terræ : Lotan, et Sobal, et Sebeon, et Ana,
21 Dishon, Ezer and Dishan; these were the Horite chieftains descended from Seir, in Edom.	21 et Dison, et Eser, et Disan : hi duces Horræi, filii Seir in terra Edom.
22 The sons of Lotan were Hori and Hemam, and Lotan's sister was Timna.	22 Facti sunt autem filii Lotan : Hori et Heman. Erat autem soror Lotan, Thamna.
23 These are the sons of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho and Onam.	23 Et isti filii Sobal : Alvan et Manahat et Ebal, et Sepho et Onam.
24 These are the sons of Zibeon: Aiah, Anah -- the Anah who found the hot springs in the desert whilepasturing his father Zibeon's donkeys.	24 Et hi filii Sebeon : Aja et Ana. Iste est Ana qui invenit aquas calidas in solitudine, cum pasceret asinos Sebeon patris sui :
25 These are the children of Anah: Dishon, and Oholibamah daughter of Anah.	25 habuitque filium Dison, et filiam Oolibama.
26 These are the sons of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran and Cheran.	26 Et isti filii Dison : Hamdan, et Eseban, et Jethram, et Charan.
27 These are the sons of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan and Akan.	27 Hi quoque filii Eser : Balaan, et Zavan, et Acan.
28 These are the sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran.	28 Habuit autem filios Disan : Hus et Aram.
29 These are the Horite chieftains: the chieftains of Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,	29 Hi duces Horræorum : dux Lotan, dux Sobal, dux Sebeon, dux Ana,
30 Dishon, Ezer and Dishan. These are the chieftains of the Horites, by their clans, in Seir.	30 dux Dison, dux Eser, dux Disan : isti duces Horræorum qui imperaverunt in terra Seir.
31 These are the kings who reigned in Edom before an Israelite king.	31 Reges autem qui regnaverunt in terra Edom antequam haberent regem filii Israël, fuerunt hi :
32 In Edom reigned Bela son of Beor; his city was cal ed Dinhabah.	32 Bela filius Beor, nomenque urbis ejus Denaba.
33 Bela died and Jobab son of Zerah, from Bozrah, succeeded.	33 Mortuus est autem Bela, et regnavit pro eo Jobab filius Zaræ de Bosra.
34 Jobab died and Husham from the land of the Temanites succeeded.	34 Cumque mortuus esset Jobab, regnavit pro eo Husam de terra Themanorum.
35 Husham died and Hadad son of Bedad succeeded; he defeated the Midianites in Moab, and his citywas called Avith.	35 Hoc quoque mortuo, regnavit pro eo Adad filius Badad, qui percussit Madian in regione Moab : et nomen urbis ejus Avith.
36 Hadad died and Samlah of Masrekah succeeded.	36 Cumque mortuus esset Adad, regnavit pro eo Semla de Masreca.
37 Samlah died and Shaul of Rehoboth-ha-Nahar succeeded.	37 Hoc quoque mortuo regnavit pro eo Saul de fluvio Rohoboth.
38 Shaul died and Baal-Hanan son of Achbor succeeded.	38 Cumque et hic obiisset, successit in regnum Balanan filius Achobor.
39 Baal-Hanan died and Hadad succeeded; his city was called Pau and his wife's name was Mehetabeldaughter of Matred, from Mezahab.	39 Isto quoque mortuo regnavit pro eo Adar, nomenque urbis ejus Phau : et appellabatur uxor ejus Meetabel, filia Matred filiæ Mezaab.
40 These are the names of the chieftains of Esau -- according to their clans and localities: the chieftainsof Timna, Alvah, Jetheth,	40 Hæc ergo nomina ducum Esau in cognationibus, et locis, et vocabulis suis : dux Thamna, dux Alva, dux Jetheth,
41 Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon,	41 dux Oolibama, dux Ela, dux Phinon,
42 Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar,	42 dux Cenez, dux Theman, dux Mabsar,
43 Magdiel and Iram. These are the chieftains of Edom, as settled in the territory which they own. Esauwas Edom's ancestor.	43 dux Magdiel, dux Hiram : hi duces Edom habitantes in terra imperii sui, ipse est Esau pater Idumæorum.
