1 These are the descendants of Esau, that is, Edom.	1 Questa è la discendenza di Esaù, cioè Edom.
2 Esau chose his wives from the women of Canaan: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, Oholibamahdaughter of Anah, son of Zibeon the Horite,	2 Esaù prese le sue mogli tra le figlie dei Cananei: Ada, figlia di Elon, l’Ittita; Oolibamà, figlia di Anà, figlio di Sibeon, l’Urrita;
3 Basemath daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.	3 Basmat, figlia di Ismaele, sorella di Nebaiòt.
4 Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, Basemath bore Reuel,	4 Ada partorì a Esaù Elifaz, Basmat partorì Reuèl,
5 Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These were the sons of Esau born to him in Canaan.	5 Oolibamà partorì Ieus, Ialam e Core. Questi sono i figli di Esaù, che gli nacquero nella terra di Canaan.
6 Esau took his wives, his sons and daughters, al the members of his household, his livestock, al hiscattle and al the goods he had acquired in Canaan and left for Seir, away from his brother Jacob.	6 Poi Esaù prese con sé le mogli, i figli e le figlie e tutte le persone della sua casa, il suo gregge e tutto il suo bestiame e tutti i suoi beni che aveva acquistati nella terra di Canaan e andò in una regione lontano dal fratello Giacobbe.
7 For they had acquired too much to live together. The land in which they were at that time could notsupport them both because of their livestock.	7 Infatti i loro possedimenti erano troppo grandi perché essi potessero abitare insieme, e il territorio dove soggiornavano come forestieri non bastava a sostenerli a causa del loro bestiame.
8 That is why Edom settled in the mountainous region of Seir. Esau is Edom.	8 Così Esaù si stabilì sulle montagne di Seir. Esaù è Edom.
9 These are the descendants of Esau, ancestor of Edom, in the mountainous region of Seir.	9 Questa è la discendenza di Esaù, padre degli Edomiti, nelle montagne di Seir.
10 These are the names of Esau's sons: Eliphaz son of Esau's wife Adah, and Reuel son of Esau's wifeBasemath.	10 Questi sono i nomi dei figli di Esaù: Elifaz, figlio di Ada, moglie di Esaù; Reuèl, figlio di Basmat, moglie di Esaù.
11 The sons of Eliphaz were: Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam and Kenaz.	11 I figli di Elifaz furono: Teman, Omar, Sefò, Gatam, Kenaz.
12 Eliphaz son of Esau had Timna for concubine and she bore him Amalek. These were the sons ofEsau's wife Adah.	12 Timna era concubina di Elifaz, figlio di Esaù, e gli generò Amalèk. Questi sono i figli di Ada, moglie di Esaù.

15 These are the chieftains of Esau. The descendants of Eliphaz, Esau's eldest son: the chieftains ofTeman, Omar, Zepho, Kenaz,	15 Questi sono i capi dei figli di Esaù: i figli di Elifaz primogenito di Esaù: il capo di Teman, il capo di Omar, il capo di Sefò, il capo di Kenaz,
16 Gatam and Amalek. These are the chieftains of Eliphaz in Edom and are descended from Adah.	16 il capo di Core, il capo di Gatam, il capo di Amalèk. Questi sono i capi di Elifaz nel territorio di Edom: questi sono i figli di Ada.

19 These were the sons of Esau -- that is, Edom -- and these are their chieftains.	19 Questi sono i figli di Esaù e questi i loro capi. Questo è il popolo degli Edomiti.
20 These are the sons of Seir the Horite, natives of the country: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,	20 Questi sono i figli di Seir l’Urrita, che abitano la regione: Lotan, Sobal, Sibeon, Anà,
21 Dishon, Ezer and Dishan; these were the Horite chieftains descended from Seir, in Edom.	21 Dison, Eser e Disan. Questi sono i capi degli Urriti, figli di Seir, nel territorio di Edom.
22 The sons of Lotan were Hori and Hemam, and Lotan's sister was Timna.	22 I figli di Lotan furono Orì e Emam e la sorella di Lotan era Timna.

28 These are the sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran.	28 I figli di Disan sono Us e Aran.

33 Bela died and Jobab son of Zerah, from Bozrah, succeeded.	33 Bela morì e al suo posto regnò Iobab, figlio di Zerach, da Bosra.
34 Jobab died and Husham from the land of the Temanites succeeded.	34 Iobab morì e al suo posto regnò Cusam, del territorio dei Temaniti.
35 Husham died and Hadad son of Bedad succeeded; he defeated the Midianites in Moab, and his citywas called Avith.	35 Cusam morì e al suo posto regnò Adad, figlio di Bedad, colui che vinse i Madianiti nelle steppe di Moab; la sua città si chiamava Avìt.
36 Hadad died and Samlah of Masrekah succeeded.	36 Adad morì e al suo posto regnò Samla da Masrekà.

39 Baal-Hanan died and Hadad succeeded; his city was called Pau and his wife's name was Mehetabeldaughter of Matred, from Mezahab.	39 Baal-Canan, figlio di Acbor, morì e al suo posto regnò Adar: la sua città si chiama Pau e la moglie si chiamava Meetabèl, figlia di Matred, figlia di Me-Zaab.
40 These are the names of the chieftains of Esau -- according to their clans and localities: the chieftainsof Timna, Alvah, Jetheth,	40 Questi sono i nomi dei capi di Esaù, secondo le loro famiglie, le loro località, con i loro nomi: il capo di Timna, il capo di Alva, il capo di Ietet,
41 Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon,	41 il capo di Oolibamà, il capo di Ela, il capo di Pinon,
42 Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar,	42 il capo di Kenaz, il capo di Teman, il capo di Mibsar,
43 Magdiel and Iram. These are the chieftains of Edom, as settled in the territory which they own. Esauwas Edom's ancestor.	43 il capo di Magdièl, il capo di Iram. Questi sono i capi di Edom secondo le loro sedi nel territorio di loro proprietà. È questi, Esaù, il padre degli Edomiti.
