1 These are the descendants of Esau, that is, Edom.	1 Das ist die Geschlechterfolge nach Esau, der auch Edom hieß:
2 Esau chose his wives from the women of Canaan: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, Oholibamahdaughter of Anah, son of Zibeon the Horite,	2 Esau nahm sich seine Frauen aus den Töchtern Kanaans: Ada, die Tochter des Hetiters Elon, Oholibama, die Tochter des Ana, eines Sohnes des Hiwiters Zibon,
3 Basemath daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.	3 und Basemat, die Tochter Ismaels, eine Schwester Nebajots.
4 Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, Basemath bore Reuel,	4 Ada gebar dem Esau Elifas, Basemat gebar Reguël
5 Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These were the sons of Esau born to him in Canaan.	5 und Oholibama gebar Jëusch, Jalam und Korach. Das waren die Söhne Esaus, die ihm in Kanaan geboren wurden.
6 Esau took his wives, his sons and daughters, al the members of his household, his livestock, al hiscattle and al the goods he had acquired in Canaan and left for Seir, away from his brother Jacob.	6 Esau nahm seine Frauen, Söhne und Töchter, alle Personen seines Hauses und seinen Besitz, all sein Vieh und seine ganze Habe, die er in Kanaan erworben hatte, und zog in ein anderes Land, fort von seinem Bruder Jakob.
7 For they had acquired too much to live together. The land in which they were at that time could notsupport them both because of their livestock.	7 Ihr Besitz war nämlich zu groß, als dass sie zusammen hätten wohnen können. 8 That is why Edom settled in the mountainous region of Seir. Esau is Edom.	8 So ließ sich Esau im Bergland Seïr nieder. Esau ist Edom.
9 These are the descendants of Esau, ancestor of Edom, in the mountainous region of Seir.	9 Das ist die Geschlechterfolge nach Esau, dem Stammvater von Edom im Bergland Seïr.
10 These are the names of Esau's sons: Eliphaz son of Esau's wife Adah, and Reuel son of Esau's wifeBasemath.	10 Die Namen der Söhne Esaus sind: Elifas, der Sohn der Ada, der Frau Esaus, und Reguël, der Sohn Basemats, der Frau Esaus.
11 The sons of Eliphaz were: Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam and Kenaz.	11 Die Söhne des Elifas sind: Teman, Omar, Zefo, Gatam und Kenas.

17 The descendants of Esau's son Reuel: the chieftains of Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah.These are the chieftains of Reuel in Edom and are descended from Esau's wife Basemath.	17 Das sind die Söhne Reguëls, des Sohnes Esaus: Häuptling Nahat, Häuptling Serach, Häuptling Schamma, Häuptling Misa. Das waren die Häuptlinge Reguëls in Edom; sie waren die Söhne Basemats, der Frau Esaus.
18 The descendants of Esau's wife Oholibamah: the chieftains of Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These arethe chieftains of Esau's wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah.	18 Das sind die Söhne Oholibamas, der Frau Esaus: Häuptling Jëusch, Häuptling Jalam, Häuptling Korach. 35 Husham died and Hadad son of Bedad succeeded; he defeated the Midianites in Moab, and his citywas called Avith.	35 Als Huscham starb, wurde König an seiner Stelle Hadad, der Sohn Bedads, der Midian im Grünland von Moab schlug; seine Stadt hieß Awit.
