1 These are the descendants of Esau, that is, Edom.	1 ואלה תלדות עשו הוא אדום
2 Esau chose his wives from the women of Canaan: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, Oholibamahdaughter of Anah, son of Zibeon the Horite,	2 עשו לקח את נשיו מבנות כנען את עדה בת אילון החתי ואת אהליבמה בת ענה בת צבעון החוי
3 Basemath daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.	3 ואת בשמת בת ישמעאל אחות נביות
4 Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, Basemath bore Reuel,	4 ותלד עדה לעשו את אליפז ובשמת ילדה את רעואל
5 Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These were the sons of Esau born to him in Canaan.	5 ואהליבמה ילדה את יעיש ואת יעלם ואת קרח אלה בני עשו אשר ילדו לו בארץ כנען
6 Esau took his wives, his sons and daughters, al the members of his household, his livestock, al hiscattle and al the goods he had acquired in Canaan and left for Seir, away from his brother Jacob.	6 ויקח עשו את נשיו ואת בניו ואת בנתיו ואת כל נפשות ביתו ואת מקנהו ואת כל בהמתו ואת כל קנינו אשר רכש בארץ כנען וילך אל ארץ מפני יעקב אחיו
7 For they had acquired too much to live together. The land in which they were at that time could notsupport them both because of their livestock.	7 כי היה רכושם רב משבת יחדו ולא יכלה ארץ מגוריהם לשאת אתם מפני מקניהם
8 That is why Edom settled in the mountainous region of Seir. Esau is Edom.	8 וישב עשו בהר שעיר עשו הוא אדום
9 These are the descendants of Esau, ancestor of Edom, in the mountainous region of Seir.	9 ואלה תלדות עשו אבי אדום בהר שעיר
10 These are the names of Esau's sons: Eliphaz son of Esau's wife Adah, and Reuel son of Esau's wifeBasemath.	10 אלה שמות בני עשו אליפז בן עדה אשת עשו רעואל בן בשמת אשת עשו
11 The sons of Eliphaz were: Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam and Kenaz.	11 ויהיו בני אליפז תימן אומר צפו וגעתם וקנז
12 Eliphaz son of Esau had Timna for concubine and she bore him Amalek. These were the sons ofEsau's wife Adah.	12 ותמנע היתה פילגש לאליפז בן עשו ותלד לאליפז את עמלק אלה בני עדה אשת עשו
13 These were the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah. These were the sons ofEsau's wife Basemath.	13 ואלה בני רעואל נחת וזרח שמה ומזה אלה היו בני בשמת אשת עשו
14 And these were the sons of Esau's wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah, son of Zibeon: she bore himJeush, Jalam and Korah.	14 ואלה היו בני אהליבמה בת ענה בת צבעון אשת עשו ותלד לעשו את יעיש ואת יעלם ואת קרח
15 These are the chieftains of Esau. The descendants of Eliphaz, Esau's eldest son: the chieftains ofTeman, Omar, Zepho, Kenaz,	15 אלה אלופי בני עשו בני אליפז בכור עשו אלוף תימן אלוף אומר אלוף צפו אלוף קנז
16 Gatam and Amalek. These are the chieftains of Eliphaz in Edom and are descended from Adah.	16 אלוף קרח אלוף געתם אלוף עמלק אלה אלופי אליפז בארץ אדום אלה בני עדה
17 The descendants of Esau's son Reuel: the chieftains of Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah.These are the chieftains of Reuel in Edom and are descended from Esau's wife Basemath.	17 ואלה בני רעואל בן עשו אלוף נחת אלוף זרח אלוף שמה אלוף מזה אלה אלופי רעואל בארץ אדום אלה בני בשמת אשת עשו
18 The descendants of Esau's wife Oholibamah: the chieftains of Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These arethe chieftains of Esau's wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah.	18 ואלה בני אהליבמה אשת עשו אלוף יעוש אלוף יעלם אלוף קרח אלה אלופי אהליבמה בת ענה אשת עשו
19 These were the sons of Esau -- that is, Edom -- and these are their chieftains.	19 אלה בני עשו ואלה אלופיהם הוא אדום
20 These are the sons of Seir the Horite, natives of the country: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,	20 אלה בני שעיר החרי ישבי הארץ לוטן ושובל וצבעון וענה
21 Dishon, Ezer and Dishan; these were the Horite chieftains descended from Seir, in Edom.	21 ודשון ואצר ודישן אלה אלופי החרי בני שעיר בארץ אדום
22 The sons of Lotan were Hori and Hemam, and Lotan's sister was Timna.	22 ויהיו בני לוטן חרי והימם ואחות לוטן תמנע
23 These are the sons of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho and Onam.	23 ואלה בני שובל עלון ומנחת ועיבל שפו ואונם
24 These are the sons of Zibeon: Aiah, Anah -- the Anah who found the hot springs in the desert whilepasturing his father Zibeon's donkeys.	24 ואלה בני צבעון ואיה וענה הוא ענה אשר מצא את הימם במדבר ברעתו את החמרים לצבעון אביו
25 These are the children of Anah: Dishon, and Oholibamah daughter of Anah.	25 ואלה בני ענה דשן ואהליבמה בת ענה
26 These are the sons of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran and Cheran.	26 ואלה בני דישן חמדן ואשבן ויתרן וכרן
27 These are the sons of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan and Akan.	27 אלה בני אצר בלהן וזעון ועקן
28 These are the sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran.	28 אלה בני דישן עוץ וארן

36 Hadad died and Samlah of Masrekah succeeded.	36 וימת הדד וימלך תחתיו שמלה ממשרקה

40 These are the names of the chieftains of Esau -- according to their clans and localities: the chieftainsof Timna, Alvah, Jetheth,	40 ואלה שמות אלופי עשו למשפחתם למקמתם בשמתם אלוף תמנע אלוף עלוה אלוף יתת
41 Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon,	41 אלוף אהליבמה אלוף אלה אלוף פינן

43 Magdiel and Iram. These are the chieftains of Edom, as settled in the territory which they own. Esauwas Edom's ancestor.	43 אלוף מגדיאל אלוף עירם אלה אלופי אדום למשבתם בארץ אחזתם הוא עשו אבי אדום
