Philippians 2

1 If there is any encouragement in Christ, any solace in love, any participation in the Spirit, any compassion and mercy,	1 Se (avete) dunque qualche consolazione in Cristo, se qualche conforto della carità, se qualche comunione di spirito, se viscere di compassione,
2 complete my joy by being of the same mind, with the same love, united in heart, thinking one thing.	2 rendete perfetta la mia gioia, stando concordi con la stessa carità, di un solo animo e di un solo sentimento.
3 Do nothing out of selfishness or out of vainglory; rather, humbly regard others as more important than yourselves,	3 Nulla fate per picca o per vana gloria; ma con umiltà ciascuno consideri gli altri come superiori,
4 each looking out not for his own interests, but (also) everyone for those of others.	4 e non guardi al proprio interesse, ma a quello degli altri.
5 Have among yourselves the same attitude that is also yours in Christ Jesus,	5 Abbiate in voi gli stessi sentimenti di Cristo Gesù,
6 Who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God something to be grasped.	6 il quale esistendo nella forma di Dio, non considerò questa sua uguaglianza con Dio come una rapina,
7 Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, coming in human likeness; and found human in appearance,	7 ma annichilò se stesso, prendendo la forma di servo e divenendo simile agli uomini, apparve come semplice uomo;
8 he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross.	8 umiliò se stesso fattosi obbediente fino alla morte e alla morte di croce.
9 Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,	9 Per questo però anche Dio lo esaltò e gli donò un nome che è sopra ogni altro nome,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth,	10 tale che nel nome di Gesù si deve piegare ogni ginocchio in cielo, in terra e nell'inferno,
11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.	11 ed ogni lingua, deve confessare che il Signore Gesù Cristo è nella gloria di Dio Padre.
12 So then, my beloved, obedient as you have always been, not only when I am present but all the more now when I am absent, work out your salvation with fear and trembling.	12 Così, o miei dilettissimi, siccome siete sempre stati obbedienti. non soltanto quando io oro presente, ma, e molto più, ora nella mia assenza, procurate con timore e tremore la vostra salvezza,
13 For God is the one who, for his good purpose, works in you both to desire and to work.	13 perché è Dio che produce in voi il volere e il far secondo la sua buona volontà.
14 Do everything without grumbling or questioning,	14 Tutto dunque fate senza mormorii, senza dispute,
15 that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine like lights in the world,	15 affinché siate irreprensibili e schietti figli di Dio, e immuni da colpa, in mezzo ad una nazione corrotta e perversa, tra la quale risplendete, come luminari del mondo,
16 as you hold on to the word of life, so that my boast for the day of Christ may be that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.	16 portando la parola di vita a mia gloria nel giorno di Cristo, in modo che io non ho corso invano, nè ho lavorato invano
17 But, even if I am poured out as a libation upon the sacrificial service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with all of you.	17 ed anche se fossi offerto in libazione sopra il sacrificio e l'ostia della vostra fede, ne godo e me ne rallegro con tutti voi;
18 In the same way you also should rejoice and share your joy with me.	18 ed anche voi godetene e rallegratevene con me.
19 I hope, in the Lord Jesus, to send Timothy to you soon, so that I too may be heartened by hearing news of you.	19 Or io spero, nel Signore Gesù, di poter mandare quanto prima a voi Timoteo, per stare di buon animo, informato che sia delle vostre cose.
20 For I have no one comparable to him for genuine interest in whatever concerns you.	20 Non ho nessuno che abbia come lui i miei sentimenti e con sincero amore si affanni per voi;
21 For they all seek their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ.	21 perchè tutti pensano ai loro interessi e non a quelli di Gesù Cristo.
22 But you know his worth, how as a child with a father he served along with me in the cause of the gospel.	22 Ma lui lo conoscete a tutta prova e sapete che si è consacrato con me, come un figlio che lavora col padre, a servizio del Vangelo.
23 He it is, then, whom I hope to send as soon as I see how things go with me,	23 Spero dunque di mandarvelo appena avrò veduto che piega prenderanno le mie cose:
24 but I am confident in the Lord that I myself will also come soon.	24 ma ho fiducia nel Signore di poter venire da voi anch'io quanto prima.
25 With regard to Epaphroditus, my brother and co-worker and fellow soldier, your messenger and minister in my need, I consider it necessary to send him to you.	25 Intanto ho creduto necessario di mandarvi Epafrodito, mio fratello e compagno di lavoro e di combattimento, vostro inviato per sovvenire ai miei bisogni;
26 For he has been longing for all of you and was distressed because you heard that he was ill.	26 perchè egli desiderava ardentemente rivedervi tutti ed era afflitto per la notizia che era a voi giunta della sua malattia.
27 He was indeed ill, close to death; but God had mercy on him, not just on him but also on me, so that I might not have sorrow upon sorrow.	27 Difatti egli è stato malato e vicino alla morte; ma Dio ha avuto compassione di lui, e non soltanto di lui, ma anche di me, per non farmi aver tristezza sopra tristezza.
28 I send him therefore with the greater eagerness, so that, on seeing him, you may rejoice again, and I may have less anxiety.	28 Ve l'ho dunque mandato con maggior fretta, e affinchè, vedutolo di nuovo, vi rallegriate ed io esca di pena.
29 Welcome him then in the Lord with all joy and hold such people in esteem,	29 Ricevetelo adunque nel Signore con ogni gioia e tenete in onore tali persone,
30 because for the sake of the work of Christ he came close to death, risking his life to make up for those services to me that you could not perform.	30 perchè per l'opera di Cristo egli è stato vicino alla morte, ha messo a repentaglio la propria vita per supplirvi nei servigi che non avete potuto rendermi voi.
