1 What advantage is there then in being a Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision?	1 ¿Cuál es, pues, la ventaja del judío o cuál la utilidad de la circuncisión? Muchas y en cualquier aspecto.
2 Much, in every respect. (For) in the first place, they were entrusted with the utterances of God.	2 Ante todo, que les han sido confiados los oráculos de Dios.
3 What if some were unfaithful? Will their infidelity nullify the fidelity of God?	3 Entonces, ¿qué? Si algunos fueron infieles, ¿acaso anulará su infidelidad la fidelidad de Dios?
4 Of course not! God must be true, though every human being is a liar, as it is written: "That you may be justified in your words, and conquer when you are judged."	4 De ningún modo. Más bien, él aparecerá como verdadero y todos los hombres como falsos; según está escrito: Para que seas juzgado en tus palabras y triunfes cuando te juzguen.
5 But if our wickedness provides proof of God's righteousness, what can we say? Is God unjust, humanly speaking, to inflict his wrath?	5 Y si nuestra injusticia sirve para mostrar la justicia de Dios, ¿qué vamos a decir? ¿Que Dios es injusto cuando descarga su ira? (estoy expresándome en términos humanos).
6 Of course not! For how else is God to judge the world?	6 De ningún modo; y si no, ¿cómo va a juzgar Dios al mundo?
7 But if God's truth redounds to his glory through my falsehood, why am I still being condemned as a sinner?	7 Ahora bien, si la verdad de Dios queda resaltada con mi mentira y ello contribuye a su gloria, ¿por qué se me sigue juzgando como pecador?
8 And why not say--as we are accused and as some claim we say--that we should do evil that good may come of it? Their penalty is what they deserve.	8 Y ¿por qué no hacer el mal para que venga el bien? Esto es lo que algunos afirman calumniosamente que nosotros decimos. Estos tales tienen bien merecida su condena.
9 Well, then, are we better off? Not entirely, for we have already brought the charge against Jews and Greeks alike that they are all under the domination of sin,	9 Entonces, ¿qué? ¿Tenemos alguna ventaja? No del todo. Ya que hemos dejado bien sentado que tanto judíos como griegos, todos están bajo el pecado,
10 as it is written: "There is no one just, not one,	10 según está escrito que: No hay nadie justo, ni uno solo;
11 there is no one who understands, there is no one who seeks God.	11 no hay nadie sensato; no hay nadie que busque a Dios.
12 All have gone astray; all alike are worthless; there is not one who does good, (there is not) even one.	12 Todos se extraviaron, a una se han pervertido; no hay nadie que haga el bien; no hay ni siquiera uno.
13 Their throats are open graves; they deceive with their tongues; the venom of asps is on their lips;	13 Una tumba abierta es su garganta, con sus lenguas urden engaños; veneno de áspides bajo sus labios;
14 their mouths are full of bitter cursing.	14 su lengua rebosa malicia y amargura,
15 Their feet are quick to shed blood;	15 sus pies son veloces para derramar sangre;
16 ruin and misery are in their ways,	16 ruina y destrucción en sus caminos.
17 and the way of peace they know not.	17 Y no conocen el camino de la paz.
18 There is no fear of God before their eyes."	18 No hay temor de Dios ante sus ojos.
19 Now we know that what the law says is addressed to those under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world stand accountable to God,	19 Ahora bien, sabemos que cuanto dice la ley lo dice para quienes viven en el ámbito de la ley, a fin de que toda boca enmudezca y todo el mundo aparezca como reo ante Dios.
20 since no human being will be justified in his sight by observing the law; for through the law comes consciousness of sin.	20 Puesto que por las obras de la ley ningún viviente será justificado ante él, pues a través de la ley solo se logra el conocimiento del pecado.
21 But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, though testified to by the law and the prophets,	21 Pero ahora, sin la ley se ha manifestado la justicia de Dios, atestiguada por la Ley y los Profetas;
22 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction;	22 justicia de Dios por la fe en Jesucristo para todos los que creen. Pues no hay distinción,
23 all have sinned and are deprived of the glory of God.	23 ya que todos pecaron y están privados de la gloria de Dios,
24 They are justified freely by his grace through the redemption in Christ Jesus,	24 y son justificados gratuitamente por su gracia, mediante la redención realizada en Cristo Jesús.
25 whom God set forth as an expiation, through faith, by his blood, to prove his righteousness because of the forgiveness of sins previously committed,	25 Dios lo constituyó medio de propiciación mediante la fe en su sangre, para mostrar su justicia pasando por alto los pecados del pasado
26 through the forbearance of God--to prove his righteousness in the present time, that he might be righteous and justify the one who has faith in Jesus.	26 en el tiempo de la paciencia de Dios; actuó así para mostrar su justicia en este tiempo, a fin de manifestar que era justo y que justifica al que tiene fe en Jesús.
27 What occasion is there then for boasting? It is ruled out. On what principle, that of works? No, rather on the principle of faith.	27 Y ahora, ¿dónde está la gloria? Queda eliminada. ¿En virtud de qué ley? ¿De la ley de las obras? No, sino en virtud de la ley de la fe.
28 For we consider that a person is justified by faith apart from works of the law.	28 Pues sostenemos que el hombre es justificado por la fe, sin obras de la Ley.
29 Does God belong to Jews alone? Does he not belong to Gentiles, too? Yes, also to Gentiles,	29 ¿Acaso Dios lo es solo de los judíos? ¿No lo es también de los gentiles? También lo es de los gentiles,
30 for God is one and will justify the circumcised on the basis of faith and the uncircumcised through faith.	30 si es verdad que no hay más que un Dios, el cual justifica a los circuncisos en virtud de la fe y a los no circuncisos también por la fe.
31 Are we then annulling the law by this faith? Of course not! On the contrary, we are supporting the law.	31 Entonces, ¿qué?, ¿privamos a la ley de su valor mediante la fe? De ningún modo. Más bien confirmamos la ley.
