1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.	1 Au commencement était le Verbe, et le Verbe était avec Dieu, et le Verbe était Dieu.
2 He was in the beginning with God.	2 Il était au commencement avec Dieu.
3 All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be. What came to be	3 Toutes choses ont été faites par Lui, et rien de ce qui a été fait n'a été fait sans Lui.
4 through him was life, and this life was the light of the human race;	4 En Lui était la vie, et la vie était la lumière des hommes;
5 the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.	5 et la lumière luit dans les ténèbres, et les ténèbres ne l'ont pas saisie.
6 A man named John was sent from God.	6 Il y eut un homme envoyé de Dieu, dont le nom était Jean.
7 He came for testimony, to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him.	7 Il vint pour servir de témoin, pour rendre témoignage à la lumière, afin que tous crussent par lui.
8 He was not the light, but came to testify to the light.	8 Il n'était pas la lumière, mais il vint pour rendre témoignage à la lumière.
9 The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.	9 C'était la vraie lumière, qui éclaire tout homme venant en ce monde.
10 He was in the world, and the world came to be through him, but the world did not know him.	10 Il était dans le monde, et le monde a été fait par Lui, et le monde ne L'a pas connu.
11 He came to what was his own, but his own people did not accept him.	11 Il est venu chez Lui, et les Siens ne L'ont pas reçu.
12 But to those who did accept him he gave power to become children of God, to those who believe in his name,	12 Mais, à tous ceux qui L'ont reçu, Il a donné le pouvoir de devenir enfants de Dieu; à ceux qui croient en Son nom,
13 who were born not by natural generation nor by human choice nor by a man's decision but of God.	13 qui ne sont pas nés du sang, ni de la volonté de la chair, ni de la volonté de l'homme, mais de Dieu.
14 And the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father's only Son, full of grace and truth.	14 Et le Verbe a été fait chair, et Il a habité parmi nous; et nous avons vu Sa gloire, gloire comme du Fils unique venu du Père, plein de grâce et de vérité.
15 John testified to him and cried out, saying, "This was he of whom I said, 'The one who is coming after me ranks ahead of me because he existed before me.'"	15 Jean rend témoignage de Lui, et crie, en disant: C'est celui dont j'ai dit: Celui qui doit venir après moi a été placé au-dessus de moi, parce qu'Il était avant moi.
16 From his fullness we have all received, grace in place of grace,	16 Et nous avons tous reçu de Sa plénitude, et grâce pour grâce.
17 because while the law was given through Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.	17 Car la loi a été donnée par Moïse; la grace et la vérité ont été faites par Jésus-Christ.
18 No one has ever seen God. The only Son, God, who is at the Father's side, has revealed him.	18 Nul n'a jamais vu Dieu; le Fils unique, qui est dans le sein du Pére, voilà Celui qui L'a manifesté.
19 And this is the testimony of John. When the Jews from Jerusalem sent priests and Levites (to him) to ask him, "Who are you?"	19 Or voici le témoignage de Jean, lorsque les Juifs lui envoyèrent de Jérusalem des prêtres et des lévites, pour lui demander: Qui es-tu?
20 he admitted and did not deny it, but admitted, "I am not the Messiah."	20 Et il confessa, et il ne nia point; et il confessa: Je ne suis pas le Christ.
21 So they asked him, "What are you then? Are you Elijah?" And he said, "I am not." "Are you the Prophet?" He answered, "No."	21 Et ils lui demandèrent: Quoi donc? Es-tu Elie? Et il dit: Je ne le suis pas. Es-tu le prophète? Et il répondit: Non.
22 So they said to him, "Who are you, so we can give an answer to those who sent us? What do you have to say for yourself?"	22 Ils lui dirent donc: Qui es-tu? afin que nous donnions une réponse à ceux qui nous ont envoyés. Que dis-tu de toi-même?
23 He said: "I am 'the voice of one crying out in the desert, "Make straight the way of the Lord,"' as Isaiah the prophet said."	23 Il dit: Je suis la voix de celui qui crie dans le désert: Rendez droit le chemin du Seigneur, comme a dit le prophète Isaïe.
24 Some Pharisees were also sent.	24 Or ceux qui avaient été envoyés étaient des pharisiens.
25 They asked him, "Why then do you baptize if you are not the Messiah or Elijah or the Prophet?"	25 Ils continuèrent de l'interroger, et lui dirent: Pourquoi donc baptises-tu, si tu n'es ni le Christ, ni Elie, ni le prophète?
26 John answered them, "I baptize with water; but there is one among you whom you do not recognize,	26 Jean leur répondit: Moi, je baptise dans l'eau; mais, au milieu de vous, Se tient Quelqu'un que vous ne connaissez pas.
27 the one who is coming after me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to untie."	27 C'est Lui qui doit venir après moi, qui a été placé au-dessus de moi: je ne suis pas digne de dénouer la courroie de Sa sandale.
28 This happened in Bethany across the Jordan, where John was baptizing.	28 Ces choses se passèrent à Béthanie, au delà du Jourdain, où Jean baptisait.
29 The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.	29 Le lendemain, Jean vit Jésus qui venait à lui, et il dit: Voici l'Agneau de Dieu, voici Celui qui enlève le péché du monde.
30 He is the one of whom I said, 'A man is coming after me who ranks ahead of me because he existed before me.'	30 C'est Celui dont j'ai dit: Après moi vient un homme qui a été placé au-dessus de moi, parce qu'Il était avant moi.
31 I did not know him, but the reason why I came baptizing with water was that he might be made known to Israel."	31 Et moi, je ne Le connaissais pas; mais c'est pour qu'Il soit manifesté en Israël que je suis venu baptiser dans l'eau.
32 John testified further, saying, "I saw the Spirit come down like a dove from the sky and remain upon him.	32 Et Jean rendit témoignage, en disant: J'ai vu l'Esprit descendre du Ciel comme une colombe, et Se reposer sur Lui.
33 I did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, 'On whomever you see the Spirit come down and remain, he is the one who will baptize with the holy Spirit.'	33 Et moi, je ne Le connaissais pas; mais Celui qui m'a envoyé baptiser dans l'eau m'a dit: Celui sur qui tu verras l'Esprit descendre et Se reposer, c'est Celui qui baptise dans l'Esprit-Saint.
34 Now I have seen and testified that he is the Son of God."	34 Et j'ai vu, et j'ai rendu témoignage qu'Il est le Fils de Dieu.
35 The next day John was there again with two of his disciples,	35 Le lendemain, Jean était encore là, avec deux de ses disciples.
36 and as he watched Jesus walk by, he said, "Behold, the Lamb of God."	36 Et regardant Jésus qui passait, il dit: Voici l'Agneau de Dieu.
37 The two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus.	37 Les deux disciples l'entendirent parler ainsi, et ils suivirent Jésus.
38 Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them, "What are you looking for?" They said to him, "Rabbi" (which translated means Teacher), "where are you staying?"	38 Jésus, S'étant retourné, et voyant qu'ils Le suivaient, leur dit: Que cherchez-vous? Ils Lui dirent: Rabbi (ce qui signifie Maître), où demeurez-Vous?
39 He said to them,"Come, and you will see." So they went and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about four in the afternoon.	39 Il leur dit: Venez et voyez. Ils vinrent et virent où Il demeurait, et ils restèrent chez Lui ce jour-là. Il était environ la dixième heure.
40 Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who heard John and followed Jesus.	40 Or André, frère de Simon-Pierre, était l'un des deux qui avaient entendu les paroles de Jean, et qui avaient suivi Jésus.
41 He first found his own brother Simon and told him, "We have found the Messiah" (which is translated Anointed).	41 Il trouva le premier son frère Simon, et lui dit: Nous avons trouvè le Messie (ce qui signifie le Christ).
42 Then he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon the son of John; you will be called Kephas" (which is translated Peter).	42 Et il l'amena à Jésus. Jésus, l'ayant regardé, dit: Tu es Simon, fils de Jona; tu seras appelé Céphas (ce qui signifie Pierre).
43 The next day he decided to go to Galilee, and he found Philip. And Jesus said to him, "Follow me."	43 Le lendemain, Jésus voulut aller en Galilée, et il rencontra Philippe. Et Il lui dit: Suis-moi.
44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the town of Andrew and Peter.	44 Or Philippe était de Bethsaïda, la ville d'André et de Pierre.
45 Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one about whom Moses wrote in the law, and also the prophets, Jesus, son of Joseph, from Nazareth."	45 Philippe rencontra Nathanaël, et lui dit: Celui de qui Moïse a écrit dans la loi, et qu'ont annoncé les prophètes, nous L'avons trouvé; c'est Jésus de Nazareth, fils de Joseph.
46 But Nathanael said to him, "Can anything good come from Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see."	46 Et Nathanaël lui dit: De Nazareth peut-il venir quelque chose de bon? Philippe lui dit: Viens et vois.
47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, "Here is a true Israelite. There is no duplicity in him."	47 Jésus vit Nathanaël qui venait à Lui, et Il dit de lui: Voici un véritable Israélite, en qui il n'y a pas de fraude.
48 Nathanael said to him, "How do you know me?" Jesus answered and said to him, "Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree."	48 Nathanaël Lui dit: D'où me connaissez-Vous? Jésus lui répondit: Avant que Philippe t'appelât, lorsque tu étais sous le figuier, Je t'ai vu.
49 Nathanael answered him, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel."	49 Nathanaël Lui répondit: Rabbi, Vous êtes le Fils de Dieu, Vous êtes le roi d'Israël.
50 Jesus answered and said to him, "Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than this."	50 Jésus lui répondit: Parce que Je t'ai dit: Je t'ai vu sous le figuier, tu crois; tu verras des choses plus grandes que celles-là.
51 And he said to him, "Amen, amen, I say to you, you will see the sky opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."	51 Et Il lui dit: En vérité, en vérité, Je vous le dis, vous verrez le Ciel ouvert, et les Anges de Dieu monter et descendre sur le Fils de l'homme.
