Luke 21

1 When he looked up he saw some wealthy people putting their offerings into the treasury	1 Alzati gli occhi, vide alcuni ricchi che gettavano le loro offerte nel tesoro.
2 and he noticed a poor widow putting in two small coins.	2 Vide anche una vedova povera che vi gettava due spiccioli
3 He said, "I tell you truly, this poor widow put in more than all the rest;	3 e disse: "In verità vi dico: questa vedova, povera, ha messo più di tutti.
4 for those others have all made offerings from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has offered her whole livelihood."	4 Tutti costoro, infatti, han deposto come offerta del loro superfluo, questa invece nella sua miseria ha dato tutto quanto aveva per vivere".
5 While some people were speaking about how the temple was adorned with costly stones and votive offerings, he said,	5 Mentre alcuni parlavano del tempio e delle belle pietre e dei doni votivi che lo adornavano, disse:
6 "All that you see here--the days will come when there will not be left a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down."	6 "Verranno giorni in cui, di tutto quello che ammirate, non resterà pietra su pietra che non venga distrutta".
7 Then they asked him, "Teacher, when will this happen? And what sign will there be when all these things are about to happen?"	7 Gli domandarono: "Maestro, quando accadrà questo e quale sarà il segno che ciò sta per compiersi?".
8 He answered, "See that you not be deceived, for many will come in my name, saying, 'I am he,' and 'The time has come.' Do not follow them!	8 Rispose: "Guardate di non lasciarvi ingannare. Molti verranno sotto il mio nome dicendo: "Sono io" e: "Il tempo è prossimo"; non seguiteli.
9 When you hear of wars and insurrections, do not be terrified; for such things must happen first, but it will not immediately be the end."	9 Quando sentirete parlare di guerre e di rivoluzioni, non vi terrorizzate. Devono infatti accadere prima queste cose, ma non sarà subito la fine".
10 Then he said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.	10 Poi disse loro: "Si solleverà popolo contro popolo e regno contro regno,
11 There will be powerful earthquakes, famines, and plagues from place to place; and awesome sights and mighty signs will come from the sky.	11 e vi saranno di luogo in luogo terremoti, carestie e pestilenze; vi saranno anche fatti terrificanti e segni grandi dal cielo.
12 "Before all this happens, however, they will seize and persecute you, they will hand you over to the synagogues and to prisons, and they will have you led before kings and governors because of my name.	12 Ma prima di tutto questo metteranno le mani su di voi e vi perseguiteranno, consegnandovi alle sinagoghe e alle prigioni, trascinandovi davanti a re e a governatori, a causa del mio nome.
13 It will lead to your giving testimony.	13 Questo vi darà occasione di render testimonianza.
14 Remember, you are not to prepare your defense beforehand,	14 Mettetevi bene in mente di non preparare prima la vostra difesa;
15 for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute.	15 io vi darò lingua e sapienza, a cui tutti i vostri avversari non potranno resistere, né controbattere.
16 You will even be handed over by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends, and they will put some of you to death.	16 Sarete traditi perfino dai genitori, dai fratelli, dai parenti e dagli amici, e metteranno a morte alcuni di voi;
17 You will be hated by all because of my name,	17 sarete odiati da tutti per causa del mio nome.
18 but not a hair on your head will be destroyed.	18 Ma nemmeno un capello del vostro capo perirà.
19 By your perseverance you will secure your lives.	19 Con la vostra perseveranza salverete le vostre anime.
20 "When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, know that its desolation is at hand.	20 Ma quando vedrete Gerusalemme circondata da eserciti, sappiate allora che la sua devastazione è vicina.
21 Then those in Judea must flee to the mountains. Let those within the city escape from it, and let those in the countryside not enter the city,	21 Allora coloro che si trovano nella Giudea fuggano ai monti, coloro che sono dentro la città se ne allontanino, e quelli in campagna non tornino in città;
22 for these days are the time of punishment when all the scriptures are fulfilled.	22 saranno infatti giorni di vendetta, perché tutto ciò che è stato scritto si compia.
23 Woe to pregnant women and nursing mothers in those days, for a terrible calamity will come upon the earth and a wrathful judgment upon this people.	23 Guai alle donne che sono incinte e allattano in quei giorni, perché vi sarà grande calamità nel paese e ira contro questo popolo.
24 They will fall by the edge of the sword and be taken as captives to all the Gentiles; and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.	24 Cadranno a fil di spada e saranno condotti prigionieri tra tutti i popoli; Gerusalemme sarà calpestata dai pagani finché i tempi dei pagani siano compiuti.
25 "There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars, and on earth nations will be in dismay, perplexed by the roaring of the sea and the waves.	25 Vi saranno segni nel sole, nella luna e nelle stelle, e sulla terra angoscia di popoli in ansia per il fragore del mare e dei flutti,
26 People will die of fright in anticipation of what is coming upon the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.	26 mentre gli uomini moriranno per la paura e per l'attesa di ciò che dovrà accadere sulla terra. 'Le' potenze 'dei cieli' infatti saranno sconvolte.
27 And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.	27 Allora vedranno 'il Figlio dell'uomo venire su una nube' con potenza e gloria grande.
28 But when these signs begin to happen, stand erect and raise your heads because your redemption is at hand."	28 Quando cominceranno ad accadere queste cose, alzatevi e levate il capo, perché la vostra liberazione è vicina".
29 He taught them a lesson. "Consider the fig tree and all the other trees.	29 E disse loro una parabola: "Guardate il fico e tutte le piante;
30 When their buds burst open, you see for yourselves and know that summer is now near;	30 quando già germogliano, guardandoli capite da voi stessi che ormai l'estate è vicina.
31 in the same way, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near.	31 Così pure, quando voi vedrete accadere queste cose, sappiate che il regno di Dio è vicino.
32 Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place.	32 In verità vi dico: non passerà questa generazione finché tutto ciò sia avvenuto.
33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.	33 Il cielo e la terra passeranno, ma le mie parole non passeranno.
34 "Beware that your hearts do not become drowsy from carousing and drunkenness and the anxieties of daily life, and that day catch you by surprise	34 State bene attenti che i vostri cuori non si appesantiscano in dissipazioni, ubriachezze e affanni della vita e che quel giorno non vi piombi addosso improvviso;
35 like a trap. For that day will assault everyone who lives on the face of the earth.	35 come un laccio esso si abbatterà sopra tutti coloro che abitano sulla faccia di tutta la terra.
36 Be vigilant at all times and pray that you have the strength to escape the tribulations that are imminent and to stand before the Son of Man."	36 Vegliate e pregate in ogni momento, perché abbiate la forza di sfuggire a tutto ciò che deve accadere, e di comparire davanti al Figlio dell'uomo".
37 During the day, Jesus was teaching in the temple area, but at night he would leave and stay at the place called the Mount of Olives.	37 Durante il giorno insegnava nel tempio, la notte usciva e pernottava all'aperto sul monte detto degli Ulivi.
38 And all the people would get up early each morning to listen to him in the temple area.	38 E tutto il popolo veniva a lui di buon mattino nel tempio per ascoltarlo.
