Proverbs 3

1 My son, forget not my teaching, keep in mind my commands;	1 Hijo mío, no olvides mi lección, en tu corazón guarda mis mandatos,
2 For many days, and years of life, and peace, will they bring you.	2 pues largos días y años de vida y bienestar te añadirán.
3 Let not kindness and fidelity leave you; bind them around your neck;	3 La piedad y la lealtad no te abandonen; átalas a tu cuello, escríbelas en la tablilla de tu corazón.
4 Then will you win favor and good esteem before God and man.	4 Así hallarás favor y buena acogida a los ojos de Dios y de los hombres.
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, on your own intelligence rely not;	5 Confía en Yahveh de todo corazón y no te apoyes en tu propia inteligencia;
6 In all your ways be mindful of him, and he will make straight your paths.	6 reconócele en todos tus caminos y él enderezará tus sendas.
7 Be not wise in your own eyes, fear the LORD and turn away from evil;	7 No seas sabio a tus propios ojos, teme a Yahveh y apártate del mal:
8 This will mean health for your flesh and vigor for your bones.	8 medicina será para tu carne y regrigerio para tus huesos.
9 Honor the LORD with your wealth, with first fruits of all your produce;	9 Honra a Yahveh con tus riquezas, con las primicias de todas tus ganancias:
10 Then will your barns be filled with grain, with new wine your vats will overflow.	10 tus trojes se llenarán de grano y rebosará de mosto tu lagar.
11 The discipline of the LORD, my son, disdain not; spurn not his reproof;	11 No desdeñes, hijo mío, la instrucción de Yahveh, no te dé fastidio su reprensión,
12 For whom the LORD loves he reproves, and he chastises the son he favors.	12 porque Yahveh reprende a aquel que ama, como un padre al hijo querido.
13 Happy the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding!	13 Dichoso el hombre que ha encontrado la sabiduría y el hombre que alcanza la prudencia;
14 For her profit is better than profit in silver, and better than gold is her revenue;	14 más vale su ganancia que la ganancia de plata, su renta es mayor que la del oro.
15 She is more precious than corals, and none of your choice possessions can compare with her.	15 Más preciosa es que las perlas, nada de lo que amas se le iguala.
16 Long life is in her right hand, in her left are riches and honor;	16 Largos días a su derecha, y a su izquierda riqueza y gloria.
17 Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace;	17 Sus caminos son caminos de dulzura y todas sus sendas de bienestar.
18 She is a tree of life to those who grasp her, and he is happy who holds her fast.	18 Es árbol de vida para los que a ella están asidos, felices son los que la abrazan.

21 My son, let not these slip out of your sight: keep advice and counsel in view;	21 Hijo mío, guarda la prudencia y la reflexión, no se aparten nunca de tus ojos:
22 So will they be life to your soul, and an adornment for your neck.	22 serán vida para tu alma y adorno para tu cuello.
23 Then you may securely go your way; your foot will never stumble;	23 Así irás tranquilo por tu camino y no tropezará tu pie.
24 When you lie down, you need not be afraid, when you rest, your sleep will be sweet.	24 No tendrás miedo al acostarte, una vez acostado, será dulce tu sueño.
25 Be not afraid of sudden terror, of the ruin of the wicked when it comes;	25 No temerás el espanto repentino, ni cuando llegue la tormenta de los malos,
26 For the LORD will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from the snare.	26 porque Yahveh será tu tranquilidad y guardará tu pie de caer en el cepo.
27 Refuse no one the good on which he has a claim when it is in your power to do it for him.	27 No niegues un favor a quien es debido, si en tu mano está el hacérselo.
28 Say not to your neighbor, "Go, and come again, tomorrow I will give," when you can give at once.	28 No digas a tu prójimo: «Vete y vuelve, mañana te daré», si tienes algo en tu poder.
29 Plot no evil against your neighbor, against him who lives at peace with you.	29 No trames mal contra tu prójimo cuando se sienta confiado junto a ti.
30 Quarrel not with a man without cause, with one who has done you no harm.	30 No te querelles contra nadie sin motivo, si no te ha hecho ningún mal.
31 Envy not the lawless man and choose none of his ways:	31 No envidies al hombre violento, ni elijas ninguno de sus caminos;
32 To the LORD the perverse man is an abomination, but with the upright is his friendship.	32 porque Yahveh abomina a los perversos, pero su intimidad la tiene con los rectos.
33 The curse of the LORD is on the house of the wicked, but the dwelling of the just he blesses;	33 La maldición de Yahveh en la casa del malvado, en cambio bendice la mansión del justo.
34 When he is dealing with the arrogant, he is stern, but to the humble he shows kindness.	34 Con los arrogantes es también arrogante, otorga su favor a los pobres.
35 Honor is the possession of wise men, but fools inherit shame.	35 La gloria es patrimonio de los sabios y los necios heredarán la ignominia.
