1 The prayer of one afflicted and wasting away whose anguish is poured out before the LORD.	1 Preghiera di un afflitto che langue ed effonde davanti al Signore il suo lamento.
2 LORD, hear my prayer; let my cry come to you.	2 Signore, ascolta la mia preghiera; giunga a te il mio grido.
3 Do not hide your face from me now that I am in distress. Turn your ear to me; when I call, answer me quickly.	3 Non tener nascosto da me il tuo volto, quando l'angoscia mi stringe. Protendi verso di me il tuo orecchio; quando t'invoco, non tardare a rispondermi.
4 For my days vanish like smoke; my bones burn away as in a furnace.	4 Sì, si dileguano come fumo i miei giorni; ardono come brace le mie ossa.
5 I am withered, dried up like grass, too wasted to eat my food.	5 E' stato colpito il mio cuore e s'è inaridito come erba; trascuro di prendere perfino il cibo.
6 From my loud groaning I become just skin and bones.	6 A causa del mio gemere la mia pelle s'è attaccata alle ossa.
7 I am like a desert owl, like an owl among the ruins.	7 Sono diventato come un pellicano del deserto, sono simile a un gufo fra le macerie.
8 I lie awake and moan, like a lone sparrow on the roof.	8 Nel continuo vegliare sono diventato come un passero, tutto solo sul tetto.
9 All day long my enemies taunt me; in their rage, they make my name a curse.	9 M'insultano tutti i giorni i miei nemici, sono furenti contro di me; imprecano sul mio nome.
10 I eat ashes like bread, mingle my drink with tears.	10 Mi nutro di cenere come di pane, mescolo lacrime alle mie bevande.
11 Because of your furious wrath, you lifted me up just to cast me down.	11 Sì, per la tua ira e il tuo sdegno mi hai preso e mi hai gettato lontano.
12 My days are like a lengthening shadow; I wither like the grass.	12 I miei giorni sono come ombra che s'allunga, mentre come erba mi sento inaridire.
13 But you, LORD, are enthroned forever; your renown is for all generations.	13 Ma tu, Signore, rimani per sempre, il tuo ricordo, di generazione in generazione.
14 You will again show mercy to Zion; now is the time for pity; the appointed time has come.	14 Tu sorgerai e avrai pietà di Sion; poiché è tempo di usarle misericordia, è giunta l'ora.
15 Its stones are dear to your servants; its dust moves them to pity.	15 Sì, sono care ai tuoi servi le sue pietre; essi sentono pietà per le sue rovine.
16 The nations shall revere your name, LORD, all the kings of the earth, your glory,	16 Le genti temeranno il nome del Signore; la tua gloria, tutti i re della terra.
17 Once the LORD has rebuilt Zion and appeared in glory,	17 Sì, il Signore ha ricostruito Sion ed è apparso nella sua gloria.
18 Heeding the plea of the lowly, not scorning their prayer.	18 Egli ha esaudito la preghiera dei derelitti, non ha disprezzato la loro implorazione.
19 Let this be written for the next generation, for a people not yet born, that they may praise the LORD:	19 Questo venga scritto per la generazione futura, e un popolo rigenerato dia lode al Signore.
20 "The LORD looked down from the holy heights, viewed the earth from heaven,	20 Sì, il Signore ha guardato dall'alto del suo santuario, dal cielo ha mirato la terra,
21 To attend to the groaning of the prisoners, to release those doomed to die."	21 per ascoltare il gemito del prigioniero, per liberare i votati alla morte,
22 Then the LORD'S name will be declared on Zion, the praise of God in Jerusalem,	22 e così annunzino in Sion il nome del Signore, e la sua lode in Gerusalemme,
23 When all peoples and kingdoms gather to worship the LORD.	23 quando insieme si raduneranno i popoli e i regni per servire il Signore.
24 God has shattered my strength in mid-course, has cut short my days.	24 E' stato abbattuto per via il mio vigore; sono stati accorciati i miei giorni.
25 I plead, O my God, do not take me in the midst of my days. Your years last through all generations.	25 Io dico: "Mio Dio, non mi rapire alla metà dei miei giorni. I tuoi anni si protraggono per generazione e generazione.
26 Of old you laid the earth's foundations; the heavens are the work of your hands.	26 All'inizio tu fondasti la terra e opera delle tue mani furono i cieli.
27 They perish, but you remain; they all wear out like a garment; Like clothing you change them and they are changed,	27 Essi periranno, ma tu rimarrai; tutti loro si logoreranno come una veste, come un abito tu li muterai ed essi saranno mutati.
28 but you are the same, your years have no end.	28 Ma tu sei sempre lo stesso e i tuoi anni non verranno mai meno.
29 May the children of your servants live on; may their descendants live in your presence.	29 I figli dei tuoi servi avranno una dimora e la loro progenie sarà salda davanti a te".
