NEW AMERICAN BIBLENOVA VULGATA
1 The prayer of one afflicted and wasting away whose anguish is poured out before the LORD.1 Preces afflicti, qui defessus
angorem suum ante Dominum profundit.
2 LORD, hear my prayer; let my cry come to you.2 Domine, exaudi orationem meam,
et clamor meus ad te veniat.
3 Do not hide your face from me now that I am in distress. Turn your ear to me; when I call, answer me quickly.3 Non abscondas faciem tuam a me;
in quacumque die tribulor,
inclina ad me aurem tuam.
In quacumque die invocavero te,
velociter exaudi me.
4 For my days vanish like smoke; my bones burn away as in a furnace.4 Quia defecerunt sicut fumus dies mei,
et ossa mea sicut cremium aruerunt.
5 I am withered, dried up like grass, too wasted to eat my food.5 Percussum est ut fenum et aruit cor meum,
etenim oblitus sum comedere panem meum.
6 From my loud groaning I become just skin and bones.6 A voce gemitus mei
adhaesit os meum carni meae.
7 I am like a desert owl, like an owl among the ruins.7 Similis factus sum pellicano solitudinis,
factus sum sicut nycticorax in ruinis.
8 I lie awake and moan, like a lone sparrow on the roof.8 Vigilavi et factus sum sicut passer solitarius in tecto.
9 All day long my enemies taunt me; in their rage, they make my name a curse.9 Tota die exprobrabant mihi inimici mei,
exardescentes in me per me iurabant.
10 I eat ashes like bread, mingle my drink with tears.10 Quia cinerem tamquam panem manducabam
et potum meum cum fletu miscebam,
11 Because of your furious wrath, you lifted me up just to cast me down.11 a facie irae et increpationis tuae,
quia elevans allisisti me.
12 My days are like a lengthening shadow; I wither like the grass.12 Dies mei sicut umbra declinaverunt,
et ego sicut fenum arui.
13 But you, LORD, are enthroned forever; your renown is for all generations.13 Tu autem, Domine, in aeternum permanes,
et memoriale tuum in generationem et generationem.
14 You will again show mercy to Zion; now is the time for pity; the appointed time has come.14 Tu exsurgens misereberis Sion,
quia tempus miserendi eius,
quia venit tempus,
15 Its stones are dear to your servants; its dust moves them to pity.15 quoniam placuerunt servis tuis lapides eius,
et pulveris eius miserentur.
16 The nations shall revere your name, LORD, all the kings of the earth, your glory,16 Et timebunt gentes nomen tuum, Domine,
et omnes reges terrae gloriam tuam,
17 Once the LORD has rebuilt Zion and appeared in glory,17 quia aedificavit Dominus Sion
et apparuit in gloria sua.
18 Heeding the plea of the lowly, not scorning their prayer.18 Respexit in orationem inopum
et non sprevit precem eorum.
19 Let this be written for the next generation, for a people not yet born, that they may praise the LORD:19 Scribantur haec pro generatione altera,
et populus, qui creabitur, laudabit Dominum.
20 "The LORD looked down from the holy heights, viewed the earth from heaven,20 Quia prospexit de excelso sanctuario suo,
Dominus de caelo in terram aspexit,
21 To attend to the groaning of the prisoners, to release those doomed to die."21 ut audiret gemitus compeditorum, ut solveret filios mortis;
22 Then the LORD'S name will be declared on Zion, the praise of God in Jerusalem,22 ut annuntient in Sion nomen Domini
et laudem eius in Ierusalem,
23 When all peoples and kingdoms gather to worship the LORD.23 cum congregati fuerint populi in unum
et regna, ut serviant Domino.
24 God has shattered my strength in mid-course, has cut short my days.24 Humiliavit in via virtutem meam,
abbreviavit dies meos.
Dicam: “ Deus meus,
25 I plead, O my God, do not take me in the midst of my days. Your years last through all generations.25 ne auferas me in dimidio dierum meorum;
in generationem et generationem sunt anni tui.
26 Of old you laid the earth's foundations; the heavens are the work of your hands.26 Initio terram fundasti;
et opera manuum tuarum sunt caeli.
27 They perish, but you remain; they all wear out like a garment; Like clothing you change them and they are changed,27 Ipsi peribunt, tu autem permanes;
et omnes sicut vestimentum veterascent,
et sicut opertorium mutabis eos, et mutabuntur.
28 but you are the same, your years have no end.28 Tu autem idem ipse es, et anni tui non deficient.
29 May the children of your servants live on; may their descendants live in your presence.29 Filii servorum tuorum habitabunt,
et semen eorum in conspectu tuo firmabitur ”.
