---|---|
The prayer of one afflicted and wasting away whose anguish is poured out before the LORD. | 1 Preces afflicti, qui defessus angorem suum ante Dominum profundit. |
LORD, hear my prayer; let my cry come to you. |
Do not hide your face from me now that I am in distress. Turn your ear to me; when I call, answer me quickly. | 3 Non abscondas faciem tuam a me; in quacumque die tribulor, inclina ad me aurem tuam. In quacumque die invocavero te, velociter exaudi me. |
For my days vanish like smoke; my bones burn away as in a furnace. | 4 Quia defecerunt sicut fumus dies mei, et ossa mea sicut cremium aruerunt. |
I am withered, dried up like grass, too wasted to eat my food. |
From my loud groaning I become just skin and bones. | 6 A voce gemitus mei adhaesit os meum carni meae. |
I am like a desert owl, like an owl among the ruins. | 7 Similis factus sum pellicano solitudinis, factus sum sicut nycticorax in ruinis. |
I lie awake and moan, like a lone sparrow on the roof. | 8 Vigilavi et factus sum sicut passer solitarius in tecto. |
All day long my enemies taunt me; in their rage, they make my name a curse. | 9 Tota die exprobrabant mihi inimici mei, exardescentes in me per me iurabant. |
I eat ashes like bread, mingle my drink with tears.
Because of your furious wrath, you lifted me up just to cast me down. | 11 a facie irae et increpationis tuae, quia elevans allisisti me. |
My days are like a lengthening shadow; I wither like the grass. | 12 Dies mei sicut umbra declinaverunt, et ego sicut fenum arui. |
But you, LORD, are enthroned forever; your renown is for all generations. |
You will again show mercy to Zion; now is the time for pity; the appointed time has come. | 14 Tu exsurgens misereberis Sion, quia tempus miserendi eius, quia venit tempus, |
Its stones are dear to your servants; its dust moves them to pity. |
The nations shall revere your name, LORD, all the kings of the earth, your glory, | 16 Et timebunt gentes nomen tuum, Domine, et omnes reges terrae gloriam tuam, |
Once the LORD has rebuilt Zion and appeared in glory, | 17 quia aedificavit Dominus Sion et apparuit in gloria sua. |
Heeding the plea of the lowly, not scorning their prayer. |
Let this be written for the next generation, for a people not yet born, that they may praise the LORD: | 19 Scribantur haec pro generatione altera, et populus, qui creabitur, laudabit Dominum. |
"The LORD looked down from the holy heights, viewed the earth from heaven, | 20 Quia prospexit de excelso sanctuario suo, Dominus de caelo in terram aspexit, |
To attend to the groaning of the prisoners, to release those doomed to die." | 21 ut audiret gemitus compeditorum, ut solveret filios mortis; |
Then the LORD'S name will be declared on Zion, the praise of God in Jerusalem, | 22 ut annuntient in Sion nomen Domini et laudem eius in Ierusalem, |
When all peoples and kingdoms gather to worship the LORD. |
God has shattered my strength in mid-course, has cut short my days. | 24 Humiliavit in via virtutem meam, abbreviavit dies meos. Dicam: “ Deus meus, |
I plead, O my God, do not take me in the midst of my days. Your years last through all generations. | 25 ne auferas me in dimidio dierum meorum; in generationem et generationem sunt anni tui. |
Of old you laid the earth's foundations; the heavens are the work of your hands. |
They perish, but you remain; they all wear out like a garment; Like clothing you change them and they are changed, | 27 Ipsi peribunt, tu autem permanes; et omnes sicut vestimentum veterascent, et sicut opertorium mutabis eos, et mutabuntur. |
but you are the same, your years have no end. |
May the children of your servants live on; may their descendants live in your presence. | 29 Filii servorum tuorum habitabunt, et semen eorum in conspectu tuo firmabitur ”. |
