¹ I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;	¹ Raccomando, dunque, innanzi tutto, che si facciano suppliche, preghiere, intercessioni, rendimenti di grazie per tutti gli uomini,
² For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.	² per i sovrani e per tutti quelli che sono costituiti in autorità perché noi possiamo condurre una vita quieta e tranquilla in tutta pietà e dignità.
³ For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;	³ Questo è bello e gradito al cospetto di Dio salvatore nostro
⁴ Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.	⁴ il quale vuole che tutti gli uomini si salvino e arrivino alla conoscenza verità.
⁵ For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;	⁵ Cè infatti un solo Dio e un solo mediatore tra Dio e gli uomini, un uomo, Cristo Gesù,
⁶ Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.	⁶ il quale diede se stesso in riscatto per tutti. Dio stesso ne diede testimonianza ai tempi fissati
⁷ Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.	⁷ e per questo io fui costituito banditore e apostolo dico la verità, non mento — maestro di fede e di verità ai pagani.
⁸ I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.	⁸ Voglio dunque che gli uomini preghino in ogni luogo, alzando mani pure senza ira né contesa.
⁹ In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;	⁹ Come anche, che le donne, in decorosa modestia, si adornino con -pudore e riguardo, non di trecce e d’oro o di perle o di vestiti costosi,
¹⁰ But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.	¹⁰ ma, come si conviene a donne che professano devozione, di opere buone.
¹¹ Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.	¹¹ Durante l’istruzione la donna conservi il silenzio, in tutta soggezione.
¹² But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.	¹² Non permetto che la donna insegni o faccia da padrona all’uomo; stia in silenzio.
¹³ For Adam was first formed, then Eve.	¹³ Adamo, infatti, fu plasmato per primo, e poi Eva.
¹⁴ And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.	¹⁴ E Adamo non fu sedotto, ma la donna, lasciatasi sedurre, cadde in trasgressione.
¹⁵ Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.	¹⁵ Si salverà però come madre e procreatrice, purché dimori pudica nella fede e carità e santità.
