1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;	1 Raccomando, dunque, prima di tutto, che si facciano suppliche, preghiere, intercessioni e rendimenti di grazie in favore di tutti gli uomini,
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.	2 per i re e per tutti coloro che sono in autorità, affinché possiamo trascorrere una vita tranquilla e serena, con ogni pietà e decoro.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;	3 Questa infatti è una cosa bella e gradita al cospetto del Salvatore, nostro Dio,
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.	4 il quale vuole che tutti gli uomini si salvino e arrivino alla conoscenza della verità.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;	5 Unico infatti è Dio, unico anche il mediatore fra Dio e gli uomini, l'uomo Cristo Gesù,
6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.	6 che ha dato se stesso in riscatto per tutti, quale testimonianza per i tempi stabiliti,
7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.	7 in favore della quale io sono stato costituito araldo e apostolo -- dico il vero, non mentisco -- maestro delle genti nella fede e nella verità.
8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.	8 Voglio, pertanto, che gli uomini preghino in ogni luogo, innalzando verso il cielo mani pure, senza collera e spirito di contesa.
9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;	9 Alla stessa maniera facciano le donne, vestendosi con abbigliamento decoroso: si adornino secondo verecondia e moderatezza, non con trecce e ornamenti d'oro, oppure con perle o vesti sontuose,
10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.	10 ma con opere buone, come conviene a donne che fanno professione di pietà.
11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.	11 La donna impari in silenzio, con perfetta sottomissione.
12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.	12 Non permetto alla donna d'insegnare, né di dominare sull'uomo, ma che stia in silenzio.
13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.	13 Per primo infatti è stato formato Adamo e quindi Eva.
14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.	14 Inoltre, non fu Adamo ad essere sedotto; la donna, invece, fu sedotta e cadde nel peccato.
15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.	15 Tuttavia essa si salverà mediante la generazione dei figli, a condizione però di perseverare nella fede, nella carità e nella santità, con saggezza.
