1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.1 Libro del origen de Jesucristo, hijo de David, hijo de Abrahán.
2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;2 Abrahán engendró a Isaac, Isaac engendró a Jacob, Jacob engendró a Judá y a sus hermanos.

11 And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:11 Josías engendró a Jeconías y a sus hermanos, cuando el destierro de Babilonia.

14 And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;14 Azor engendró a Sadoc, Sadoc engendró a Aquín, Aquín engendró a Eliud,
15 And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;15 Eliud engendró a Eleazar, Eleazar engendró a Matán, Matán engendró a Jacob;
16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.16 y Jacob engendró a José, el esposo de María, de la cual nació Jesús, llamado Cristo.
17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.17 Así, las generaciones desde Abrahán a David fueron en total catorce; desde David hasta la deportación a Babilonia, catorce; y desde la deportación a Babilonia hasta el Cristo, catorce.
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.18 La generación de Jesucristo fue de esta manera: María, su madre, estaba desposada con José y, antes de vivir juntos, resultó que ella esperaba un hijo por obra del Espíritu Santo.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.19 José, su esposo, como era justo y no quería difamarla, decidió repudiarla en privado.
20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.20 Pero, apenas había tomado esta resolución, se le apareció en sueños un ángel del Señor que le dijo: «José, hijo de David, no temas acoger a María, tu mujer, porque la criatura que hay en ella viene del Espíritu Santo.
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.21 Dará a luz un hijo y tú le pondrás por nombre Jesús, porque él salvará a su pueblo de sus pecados».
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,22 Todo esto sucedió para que se cumpliese lo que había dicho el Señor por medio del profeta:
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.23 «Mirad: la virgen concebirá y dará a luz un hijo y le pondrán por nombre Enmanuel, que significa “Dios-con-nosotros”».
24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:24 Cuando José se despertó, hizo lo que le había mandado el ángel del Señor y acogió a su mujer.
25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.25 Y sin haberla conocido, ella dio a luz un hijo al que puso por nombre Jesús.
