1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.	1 Genealogia di Gesù Cristo figlio di Davide, figlio di Abramo.
2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;	2 Abramo generò Isacco, Isacco generò Giacobbe, Giacobbe generò Giuda e i suoi fratelli,
3 And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;	3 Giuda generò Fares e Zara da Tamar, Fares generò Esrom, Esrom generò Aram,
4 And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon;	4 Aram generò Aminadàb, Aminadàb generò Naassòn, Naassòn generò Salmon,
5 And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;	5 Salmon generò Booz da Racab, Booz generò Obed da Rut, Obed generò Iesse,
6 And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;	6 Iesse generò il re Davide. Davide generò Salomone da quella che era stata la moglie di Uria,
7 And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;	7 Salomone generò Roboamo, Roboamo generò Abia, Abia generò Asaf,
8 And Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Ozias;	8 Asaf generò Giòsafat, Giòsafat generò Ioram, Ioram generò Ozia,
9 And Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias;	9 Ozia generò Ioatàm, Ioatàm generò Acaz, Acaz generò Ezechia,
10 And Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias;	10 Ezechia generò Manasse, Manasse generò Amos, Amos generò Giosia,
11 And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:	11 Giosia generò Ieconia e i suoi fratelli, al tempo della deportazione in Babilonia.
12 And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel;	12 Dopo la deportazione in Babilonia, Ieconia generò Salatièl, Salatièl generò Zorobabele,
13 And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;	13 Zorobabele generò Abiùd, Abiùd generò Eliachìm, Eliachìm generò Azor,
14 And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;	14 Azor generò Sadoc, Sadoc generò Achim, Achim generò Eliùd,
15 And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;	15 Eliùd generò Eleazar, Eleazar generò Mattan, Mattan generò Giacobbe,
16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.	16 Giacobbe generò Giuseppe, lo sposo di Maria, dalla quale è nato Gesù, chiamato Cristo.
17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.	17 In tal modo, tutte le generazioni da Abramo a Davide sono quattordici, da Davide fino alla deportazione in Babilonia quattordici, dalla deportazione in Babilonia a Cristo quattordici.
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.	18 Così fu generato Gesù Cristo: sua madre Maria, essendo promessa sposa di Giuseppe, prima che andassero a vivere insieme si trovò incinta per opera dello Spirito Santo.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.	19 Giuseppe suo sposo, poiché era uomo giusto e non voleva accusarla pubblicamente, pensò di ripudiarla in segreto.
20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.	20 Mentre però stava considerando queste cose, ecco, gli apparve in sogno un angelo del Signore e gli disse: «Giuseppe, figlio di Davide, non temere di prendere con te Maria, tua sposa. Infatti il bambino che è generato in lei viene dallo Spirito Santo;
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.	21 ella darà alla luce un figlio e tu lo chiamerai Gesù: egli infatti salverà il suo popolo dai suoi peccati».
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,	22 Tutto questo è avvenuto perché si compisse ciò che era stato detto dal Signore per mezzo del profeta:
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.	23 Ecco, la vergine concepirà e darà alla luce un figlio: a lui sarà dato il nome di Emmanuele, che significa Dio con noi.
24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:	24 Quando si destò dal sonno, Giuseppe fece come gli aveva ordinato l’angelo del Signore e prese con sé la sua sposa;
25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.	25 senza che egli la conoscesse, ella diede alla luce un figlio ed egli lo chiamò Gesù.
