Proverbs 14

1 Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.	1 La donna saggia edifica la sua casa, la stolta, anche se edificata, la distrugge colle proprie mani.
2 He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.	2 Chi cammina per la via retta e teme Dio, è disprezzato da colui che va per la via infame.
3 In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.	3 Nella bocca dello stolto c'è la verga della superbia, ma le labbra dei sapienti son la loro guardia.
4 Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.	4 Se mancano i buoi la mangiatoia è vuota, dove son abbondanti raccolte si manifesta la forza del bove.
5 A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.	5 Si testimone fedele non mentisce, ma il falso testimone spaccia menzogne.
6 A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.	6 Il beffardo cerca la sapienza e non la trova, per i prudenti è facile istruirsi.
7 Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.	7 Va lungi dallo stolto: egli non conosce i dettami della prudenza.
8 The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.	8 La sapienza dell'accorto sta nel conoscere la sua strada, l'imprudenza degli stolti la fa sbagliare.
9 Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.	9 Lo stolto si burlerà del peccato, ma fra i giusti dimorerà la grazia.
10 The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.	10 E' il cuore che conosce le amarezze dell'anima sua: alla sua gioia non può partecipare un estraneo.
11 The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.	11 La casa degli empi sarà distrutta, ma le tendo dei giusti saran floride.
12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.	12 C'è una via che all'uomo sembra giusta, ma finisce col menare alla morte.
13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.	13 Il riso sarà mescolato col dolore, il pianto succederà all'allegrezza.
14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.	14 Lo stolto sarà soddisfatto della sua condotta, ma il virtuoso sarà a lui superiore.
15 The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.	15 Il semplice crede ad ogni parola, l'accorto guarda dove mette i piedi. Per il figlio senza sincerità non ci sarà bene, al servo saggio prospereranno gli affari e ne saran felici le vie.
16 A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.	16 Il Il saggio teme e schiva il male, lo stolto salta avanti presuntuoso.
17 He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.	17 L'impaziente agirà da stolto, diventa odioso l'uomo astuto.
18 The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.	18 I semplicioni avranno in possesso la stoltezza, gli uomini accorti aspetteranno la scienza.
19 The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.	19 Giaceranno i cattivi ai piedi dei buoni, e gli empi dinanzi alle porte dei giusti.
20 The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.	20 Il povero è odiato anche dai congiunti, invece i ricchi han molti amici.
21 He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.	21 Chi disprezza il suo prossimo pecca, chi ha pietà del povero sarà beato. Chi crede nel Signore ama la misericordia.
22 Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.	22 Son fuor di strada quelli che fanno il male. La misericordia e la verità preparano i beni.
23 In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.	23 Dove si lavora ci sarà abbondanza, dove son molte chiacchiere v'è spesso l'indigenza.
24 The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.	24 Corona dei saggi son le loro ricchezze, la follia degli stolti resta follia.
25 A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.	25 Il testimonio fedele libera delle vite, il finto spaccia menzogne.
26 In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.	26 Nel timore del Signore v'è incrollabile fiducia, e i suoi figli avran da sperare.
27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.	27 Il timor del Signore è fonte di vita, e fa evitare la rovina della morte.
28 In the multitude of people is the king's honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.	28 Nel gran numero del popolo sta la dignità del re, nella scarsità dei sudditi l'ignominia del principe.
29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.	29 Chi è paziente si governa con molta prudenza, ma l'impaziente proclama la sua stoltezza.
30 A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.	30 Un cuore sano è la vita del corpo, l'invidia è la carie delle ossa.
31 He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.	31 Chi opprime il povero insulta chi l'ha creato, chi invece ha compassione del povero lo onora.
32 The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.	32 L'empio sarà travolto dalla sua malizia, il giusto in punto di morte è pieno di speranza.
33 Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.	33 La sapienza riposa nel cuore del prudente, ed istruirà anche gli ignoranti.
34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.	34 La giustizia fa grande una nazione, ma il peccato rende infelici i popoli.
35 The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.	35 E' accetto al re il ministro intelligente, ma quello buono a nulla ne proverà lo sdegno.
