Proverbs 14

1 Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.	1 La sapienza costruisce la sua casa, la stoltezza con le proprie mani la distrugge.
2 He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.	2 Chi cammina nella sua rettitudine ha il timor di Dio, chi perverte la sua strada lo disprezza.
3 In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.	3 Nella bocca dello stolto c'è un germoglio di superbia, le labbra dei saggi li custodiscono.
4 Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.	4 Se non ci sono buoi la greppia è vuota, nella forza del giovenco c'è abbondanza di prodotti.
5 A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.	5 Un testimonio verace non mentisce, un falso testimonio esala falsità.
6 A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.	6 Cerca la sapienza l'insolente, ma invano, per l'intelligente, la sapienza è cosa facile.
7 Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.	7 Guarda di star lontano dall'insipiente, perché non vi troverai labbra sapienti.
8 The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.	8 Chi è prudente studia bene la sua strada, ma la follia degli stolti è sbandamento.
9 Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.	9 Nelle tende degli insolenti c'è il castigo, nelle case dei giusti c'è la grazia.
10 The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.	10 Conosce il cuore la sua propria amarezza e alla sua gioia non s'associa l'estraneo.
11 The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.	11 La casa degli empi sarà abbattuta, la tenda dei giusti fiorirà.
12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.	12 Una strada agli occhi dell'uomo par diritta, all'altra estremità però c'è un trabocchetto.
13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.	13 Perfino nel riso il cuore si rattrista e la gioia stessa finisce nell'afflizione.
14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.	14 Delle sue vie si sazia il traviato, ma l'uomo buono delle sue azioni.
15 The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.	15 L'ingenuo crede ad ogni parola, chi è prudente veglia sui suoi passi.
16 A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.	16 Il saggio teme e sfugge il male, lo stolto va avanti e sta tranquillo.
17 He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.	17 Chi è pronto all'ira commette ogni stoltezza e l'uomo tenebroso attira l'odio.
18 The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.	18 Gli ingenui hanno in sorte la stoltezza, gli accorti invece si adornano di scienza.
19 The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.	19 I cattivi si inchineranno ai buoni e gli empi davanti alle porte dei giusti.
20 The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.	20 Il povero è odiato anche dal suo simile, ma gli amici del ricco sono molti.
21 He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.	21 Chi disprezza il suo prossimo fa peccato, ma chi ha pietà dei miseri è beato.
22 Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.	22 Non traviano forse gli artefici del male? Benevolenza e fedeltà a chi fa il bene.
23 In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.	23 In ogni fatica c'è guadagno, solo la parola delle labbra porta all'indigenza.
24 The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.	24 Corona dei saggi è la loro ricchezza, diadema degli stolti è la stoltezza.
25 A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.	25 Un testimonio veritiero salva molti, chi dice menzogne è una rovina.
26 In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.	26 Nel timore del Signore c'è un sicuro rifugio e per i suoi figli egli è riparo.
27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.	27 Il timore del Signore è sorgente di vita per sfuggire ai lacci della morte.
28 In the multitude of people is the king's honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.	28 L'onore del re sta nella moltitudine del popolo, carenza di popolo è rovina del principe.
29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.	29 Chi è lento alla collera ha molta intelligenza, chi è facile a infiammarsi mostra stoltezza.
30 A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.	30 Vita dei corpi è un cuore benigno, l'invidia è tarlo delle ossa.
31 He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.	31 Chi opprime il povero disonora il suo Creatore, lo glorifica chi ha pietà dell'umile.
32 The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.	32 Dalla sua malizia è rovinato l'empio, ma pur nella sua morte il giusto è fiducioso.
33 Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.	33 Nel cuore intelligente risiede la sapienza, ma non si conoscerà nel seno degli stolti.
34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.	34 La giustizia innalza una nazione, vergogna per i popoli è il peccato.
35 The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.	35 Il re si compiace d'un servo intelligente, la sua collera è per chi lo disonora.
