Proverbs 14

KING JAMES BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.	1 La Sagesse bâtit sa maison, de sa main, la Folie la renverse.
2 He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.	2 Qui marche dans sa droiture craint Yahvé, qui dévie de ses chemins le méprise.
3 In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.	3 Dans la bouche du fou il y a un surgeon d'orgueil, les lèvres des sages les gardent.
4 Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.	4 Point de boeufs, mangeoire vide; taureau vigoureux, revenus abondants.
5 A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.	5 Le témoin véridique ne ment pas, mais le faux témoin exhale le mensonge.
6 A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.	6 Le railleur poursuit la sagesse, mais en vain, à l'homme intelligent le savoir est chose aisée.
7 Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.	7 Ecarte-toi du sot, tu ignorerais les lèvres savantes.
8 The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.	8 Pour l'homme avisé, la sagesse est de surveiller sa conduite, mais la folie des sots n'est quetromperie.
9 Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.	9 Les fous raillent le sacrifice pour le péché, mais parmi les hommes droits se trouve la faveur.
10 The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.	10 Le coeur connaît son propre chagrin et nul étranger ne partage sa joie.
11 The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.	11 La maison des méchants sera détruite, la tente des hommes droits prospérera.
12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.	12 Tel chemin paraît droit à quelqu'un, mais en fin de compte c'est le chemin de la mort.
13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.	13 Dans le rire même, le coeur trouve la peine, et la joie s'achève en chagrin.
14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.	14 Le coeur dévoyé se rassasie de ses démarches, et l'homme de bien de ses oeuvres.
15 The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.	15 Le niais croit tout ce qu'on dit, l'homme avisé surveille ses pas.
16 A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.	16 Le sage craint le mal et se détourne, le sot est insolent et sûr de lui.
17 He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.	17 L'homme prompt à la colère fait des sottises, l'homme malintentionné est odieux.
18 The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.	18 La part des niais, c'est la folie, les gens avisés se font du savoir une couronne.
19 The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.	19 Devant les bons, les méchants se prosternent, et aux portes des justes, les impies.
20 The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.	20 Même à son voisin, le pauvre est odieux, mais nombreux sont ceux qui aiment le riche.
21 He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.	21 Il pèche, celui qui méprise son prochain; heureux qui a pitié des pauvres.
22 Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.	22 N'est-ce pas s'égarer que machiner le mal? Miséricorde et fidélité pour qui s'applique au bien.
23 In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.	23 Tout labeur donne du profit, le bavardage ne produit que disette.
24 The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.	24 Couronne des sages: leur richesse; la folie des sots est folie.
25 A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.	25 Un témoin véridique sauve des vies, qui profère des mensonges est un imposteur.
26 In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.	26 Dans la crainte de Yahvé, puissante sécurité; pour ses enfants il est un refuge.
27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.	27 La crainte de Yahvé est source de vie pour éviter les pièges de la mort.
28 In the multitude of people is the king's honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.	28 Peuple nombreux, gloire du roi; baisse de population, ruine du prince.
29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.	29 L'homme lent à la colère est plein d'intelligence, qui a l'humeur prompte exalte la folie.
30 A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.	30 Vie du corps: un coeur paisible; mais l'envie est carie des os.
31 He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.	31 Opprimer le faible, c'est outrager son Créateur; c'est l'honorer que d'être bon pour lesmalheureux.
32 The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.	32 Par sa propre malice le méchant est terrassé, le juste trouve un refuge dans son intégrité.
33 Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.	33 En un coeur intelligent demeure la sagesse; on ne la reconnaît pas au coeur des sots.
34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.	34 La justice grandit une nation, le péché est la honte des peuples.
35 The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.	35 La faveur du roi va au serviteur intelligent et sa colère à celui qui fait honte.
