1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.	1 Proverbi di Salomone. Un figlio saggio dà gioia al padre, un figlio stolto è la tristezza di sua madre.
2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.	2 Non fanno profitto i tesori iniqui, ma la giustizia libera dalla morte.
3 The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.	3 Il Signore non fa morire di fame un giusto, ma reprime l'ingordigia degli empi.
4 He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.	4 Produce indigenza una mano indolente, una mano svelta invece arricchisce.
5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.	5 Chi ammassa d'estate è un uomo assennato, ma chi dorme al raccolto è un uomo spregevole.
6 Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.	6 Le benedizioni del Signore sono sul capo del giusto, ma dolore immaturo chiude la bocca degli empi.
7 The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.	7 La memoria del giusto è in benedizione, il nome degli empi invece marcisce.
8 The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.	8 Il saggio di cuore accetta i precetti, lo stolto di labbra va invece in rovina.
9 He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.	9 Chi cammina sincero, cammina sicuro, ma chi imbocca le vie tortuose è smascherato.
10 He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.	10 Chi strizza l'occhio, procura tristezza, ma chi corregge con forza, procura la pace.
11 The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.	11 Sorgente di vita, la bocca del giusto, ma la bocca degli empi racchiude la violenza.
12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.	12 L'odio procura i litigi, ma tutte le colpe ricopre l'amore.
13 In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.	13 Sulla bocca dell'uomo assennato si trova saggezza, ma il bastone è per la schiena dell'insensato.
14 Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.	14 I saggi fan tesoro della scienza, ma la bocca dello stolto è una rovina imminente.
15 The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.	15 I beni del ricco sono la sua roccaforte, ma la rovina dei poveri è la loro indigenza.
16 The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.	16 Il salario del giusto procura la vita, ma il guadagno dell'empio è la rovina.
17 He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.	17 Va verso la vita chi custodisce la disciplina, ma chi trascura la correzione sbanda.
18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.	18 Occultano l'odio le labbra giuste, ma chi sparge calunnie è uno stolto.
19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.	19 Troppe parole non son senza colpa, ma chi frena la lingua è un uomo prudente.
20 The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.	20 Argento colato è la lingua del giusto, ma il cuore degli empi è cosa da poco.
21 The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.	21 Le labbra del giusto nutron le folle, gli stolti invece muoiono in povertà.
22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.	22 La benedizione del Signore arricchisce, ma niente vi aggiunge lo sforzo.
23 It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.	23 Allo stolto dà gioia compiere il male, ma agir con saggezza all'uomo sensato.
24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.	24 Ciò che l'empio teme gli arriva, ma ai giusti vien dato ciò che desiderano.
25 As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.	25 Passa l'uragano e l'empio non c'è più, il giusto invece resta saldo in eterno.
26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.	26 Come l'aceto per i denti e il fumo per gli occhi, così è il pigro per chi l'ha inviato.
27 The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.	27 Il timore del Signore aumenta i giorni, ma gli anni degli empi sono accorciati.
28 The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.	28 L'attesa dei giusti è la gioia ma la speranza degli empi va in fumo.
29 The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.	29 Il Signore è un rifugio per l'onesto, ma una rovina per chi opera il male.
30 The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.	30 Il giusto mai vacillerà, ma gli empi non abiteranno la terra.
31 The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.	31 La bocca del giusto espande sapienza, ma la lingua perversa verrà estirpata.
32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.	32 Le labbra del giusto spandono benevolenza, ma la bocca degli empi cose perverse.
