Proverbs 10

KING JAMES BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.	1 Proverbes de Salomon. Le fils sage réjouit son père, le fils sot chagrine sa mère.
2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.	2 Trésors mal acquis ne profitent pas, mais la justice délivre de la mort.
3 The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.	3 Yahvé ne laisse pas le juste affamé, mais il réprime la convoitise des méchants.
4 He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.	4 Main nonchalante appauvrit, la main des diligents enrichit.
5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.	5 Amasser en été est d'un homme avisé, dormir à la moisson est d'un homme indigne.
6 Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.	6 Bénédictions sur la tête du juste, mais la bouche des impies recouvre la violence.
7 The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.	7 La mémoire du juste est en bénédiction, le nom des méchants tombe en pourriture.
8 The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.	8 L'homme au coeur sage accepte les ordres, l'homme aux lèvres folles court à sa perte.
9 He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.	9 Qui va honnêtement va en sécurité, qui suit une voie tortueuse est démasqué.
10 He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.	10 Qui cligne de l'oeil donne du tourment, qui réprimande en face procure l'apaisement.
11 The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.	11 Source de vie: la bouche du juste, mais la bouche des impies recouvre la violence.
12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.	12 La haine allume des querelles, l'amour couvre toutes les offenses.
13 In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.	13 Sur les lèvres de l'homme intelligent se trouve la sagesse, sur le dos de l'insensé, le bâton.
14 Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.	14 Les sages thésaurisent le savoir, mais la bouche du fou est un danger menaçant.
15 The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.	15 La fortune du riche, voilà sa place forte; le mal des faibles, c'est leur indigence.
16 The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.	16 Le salaire du juste procure la vie, le revenu du méchant, le péché.
17 He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.	17 Il marche vers la vie, celui qui garde la discipline; qui délaisse la réprimande se fourvoie.
18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.	18 Les lèvres du menteur couvrent la haine; qui profère une calomnie est un sot.
19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.	19 Abondance de paroles ne va pas sans offense; qui retient ses lèvres est avisé.
20 The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.	20 La langue du juste est pur argent, le coeur des méchants est de peu de prix.
21 The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.	21 Les lèvres du juste repaissent une multitude, mais les fous meurent faute de sens.
22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.	22 C'est la bénédiction de Yahvé qui enrichit, sans que l'effort y ajoute rien.
23 It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.	23 C'est un jeu pour le sot de s'adonner au crime, et pour l'homme intelligent de cultiver lasagesse.
24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.	24 Ce que redoute le méchant lui échoit, ce que souhaite le juste lui est donné.
25 As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.	25 Quand la tourmente a passé, plus de méchant! mais à jamais, le juste est établi.
26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.	26 Vinaigre aux dents, fumée aux yeux, tel est le paresseux pour qui l'envoie.
27 The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.	27 La crainte de Yahvé prolonge les jours, les années du méchant seront abrégées.
28 The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.	28 L'espoir des justes est joie, l'espérance des méchants périra.
29 The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.	29 La voie de Yahvé est un rempart pour l'homme honnête, pour les malfaisants, une ruine.
30 The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.	30 Jamais le juste ne sera ébranlé, mais les méchants n'habiteront pas le pays.
31 The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.	31 La bouche du juste exprime la sagesse, la langue perverse sera coupée.
32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.	32 Les lèvres du juste connaissent la bienveillance, la bouche des méchants la perversité.
