1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.	1 Proverbi di Salomone. Il figlio saggio allieta il padre, il figlio stolto contrista sua madre.
2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.	2 I tesori male acquistati non giovano, ma la giustizia libera dalla morte.
3 The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.	3 Il Signore non lascia che il giusto soffra la fame, ma respinge la cupidigia dei perfidi.
4 He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.	4 La mano pigra rende poveri, la mano operosa arricchisce.
5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.	5 Chi raccoglie d’estate è previdente e chi dorme al tempo della mietitura è uno svergognato.
6 Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.	6 Le benedizioni del Signore sul capo del giusto, la bocca degli empi nasconde violenza.
7 The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.	7 La memoria del giusto è in benedizione, il nome degli empi marcisce.
8 The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.	8 Chi è saggio di cuore accetta i precetti, chi è stolto di labbra va in rovina.
9 He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.	9 Chi cammina nell’integrità va sicuro, chi tiene vie tortuose sarà smascherato.
10 He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.	10 Chi chiude un occhio causa dolore, chi riprende a viso aperto procura pace.
11 The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.	11 Fonte di vita è la bocca del giusto, la bocca degli empi nasconde violenza.
12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.	12 L’odio suscita litigi, l’amore ricopre ogni colpa.
13 In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.	13 Sulle labbra dell’intelligente si trova la sapienza, ma il bastone è per la schiena dello stolto.
14 Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.	14 I saggi fanno tesoro della scienza, ma la bocca dello stolto è una rovina imminente.
15 The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.	15 I beni del ricco sono la sua roccaforte, la rovina dei poveri è la loro miseria.
16 The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.	16 Il salario del giusto serve per la vita, il guadagno dell’empio è per i vizi.
17 He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.	17 Cammina verso la vita chi accetta la correzione, chi trascura il rimprovero si smarrisce.
18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.	18 Dissimulano l’odio le labbra bugiarde, chi diffonde calunnie è uno stolto.
19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.	19 Nel molto parlare non manca la colpa, chi frena le labbra è saggio.
20 The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.	20 Argento pregiato è la lingua del giusto, il cuore degli empi vale ben poco.
21 The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.	21 Le labbra del giusto nutrono molti, gli stolti invece muoiono per la loro stoltezza.
22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.	22 La benedizione del Signore arricchisce, non vi aggiunge nulla la fatica.
23 It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.	23 Per lo stolto compiere il male è un divertimento, così coltivare la sapienza per l’uomo prudente.
24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.	24 Al malvagio sopraggiunge il male che teme, il desiderio dei giusti invece è soddisfatto.
25 As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.	25 Passa la bufera e l’empio non c’è più, il giusto invece resta saldo per sempre.
26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.	26 Come l’aceto ai denti e il fumo agli occhi, così è il pigro per chi gli affida una missione.
27 The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.	27 Il timore del Signore prolunga i giorni, ma gli anni dei malvagi sono accorciati.
28 The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.	28 L’attesa dei giusti è gioia, ma la speranza degli empi svanirà.
29 The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.	29 La via del Signore è una fortezza per l’uomo integro, ma è una rovina per i malfattori.
30 The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.	30 Il giusto non vacillerà mai, ma gli empi non dureranno sulla terra.
31 The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.	31 La bocca del giusto espande sapienza, la lingua perversa sarà tagliata.
32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.	32 Le labbra del giusto conoscono benevolenza, la bocca degli empi cose perverse.
