1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.	1 - Il figlio saggio rallegrerà il padre, ma il figlio stolto è l'afflizione di sua madre.
2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.	2 I tesori dell'empietà a nulla giovarono, ma la giustizia scamperà dalla morte.
3 The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.	3 Il Signore non affliggerà con la fame l'anima del giusto, ma manderà a rovescio le insidie degli empi.
4 He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.	4 La mano oziosa ha fatto impoverire e la mano dei laboriosi prepara la ricchezza. Chi si appoggia sulle menzogne pasce i venti, egli pure insegue uccelli che volano.
5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.	5 Chi raccoglie durante la mèsse è un figlio giudizioso, chi poltrisce nella state è un figlio che fa vergogna.
6 Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.	6 La benedizione del Signore sul capo del giusto, ma la bocca dei malvagi iniquità ricopre.
7 The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.	7 La memoria del giusto è in benedizione e il nome degli empi marcirà.
8 The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.	8 Chi è saggio di cuore riceve gli ammonimenti, e lo stolto per ogni parola s'offende.
9 He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.	9 Chi cammina con semplicità cammina con confidenza, e chi procede per vie oblique sarà scoperto.
10 He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.	10 Chi ammicca coll'occhio fa dispiacere, e lo stolto dalle sue labbra sarà percosso.
11 The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.	11 Una sorgente di vita è la bocca del giusto, e la bocca dei malvagi iniquità ricopre.
12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.	12 L'odio suscita le contese, e la carità su tutte le colpe stende il suo velo.
13 In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.	13 Sulle labbra dell'intelligente la sapienza si trova, e la sferza sul dosso dell'insensato.
14 Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.	14 I saggi nascondono la scienza, e la bocca degli stolti è prossima alla confusione.
15 The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.	15 Le sostanze del ricco sono la sua città forte, sgomento dei poveri è la lor povertà.
16 The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.	16 L'opera del giusto è per la vita, il guadagno dell'empio pel peccato.
17 He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.	17 Chi fa tesoro degli ammonimenti è sulla via della vita; e chi lascia le correzioni è fuor di strada.
18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.	18 Le labbra menzognere nascondono odio; chi proferisce villanie è uno scemo.
19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.	19 Dove molto si ciarla la colpa non mancherà, ma chi modera le sue labbra è prudentissimo.
20 The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.	20 Argento fino è la lingua del giusto, e il cuore degli empi non vale niente.
21 The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.	21 Le labbra del giusto istruiscono molti, ma gl'insipienti morranno senza aver messo senno.
22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.	22 La benedizione del Signore fa gli uomini ricchi, e affanno non li accompagnerà.
23 It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.	23 Lo stolto fa il male quasi per giuoco, ma la sapienza serve all'uomo di discernimento.
24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.	24 Ciò che l'empio teme gli sopravverrà, e ai giusti si accorderà il loro desiderio.
25 As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.	25 Come passa la burrasca, così svanisce l'empio, ma il giusto è come un fondamento perenne.
26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.	26 Come l'aceto ai denti, come il fumo agli occhi, così il pigro a quei che gli hanno dato commissioni.
27 The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.	27 Il timor di Dio aggiunge giorni, ma gli anni degli empi saranno accorciati.
28 The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.	28 L'aspettazione de' giusti è la gioia, ma la speranza degli empi andrà perduta.
29 The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.	29 Le vie del Signore sono la forza dell'innocente e lo sgomento dei malfattori.
30 The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.	30 Il giusto non sarà scosso in eterno, ma gli empi non avranno dimora sulla terra.
31 The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.	31 La bocca del giusto germinerà la sapienza, ma la lingua dei malvagi perirà.
32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.	32 Le labbra del giusto tengono in conto le cose gradevoli, e la bocca degli empi le perverse.
